[ This apartment may look a bit familiar. It's certainly the same one that Kaz was in in his previous post. This time however, the message features Jesper. Still decked out in his awesome 90s clothes, b-t-dubs. Yes, there are riots out there. And yeah, riots suck. But Jesper looks like he's doing pretty ok, thanks for asking. ]
Hey, so I know you guys are a real generous bunch. [ He grins. ] This might sound like a weird request, but given the way people were hoarding them back at the supermarket, I figure everybody's stocking up on canned food, right? Since I guess the food inside takes forever to spoil.
[ He shrugs. Yes, he was one of the people who looted the DollarClub. No, he does not look any worse for the wear. Instead Jesper produces a can of beans for the magitek. It's empty, actually, but he gives it a little spin if anyone needs to take a closer look before putting it down on the couch. ]
So I thought to myself, 'Jesper, I bet a lot of people are gonna just throw those cans away after they're done with them,' and that's a real shame. So if anybody has empty cans laying around, think you could send them my way?
[ He smiles again, this time the can seems to, um. Float? In mid-air? Does he know he's doing that? ]
I promise, they're for a good cause.

Long story short, people with powers don't live the best lives back home.
[ He shrugs. This is no big deal!! ]
I'm untrained so I have to practice. Figured I could start with cans, right?

Sapphires are the only gems who can see the future and they're treated like nobility back on Homeworld.

Yeah, people often fear what they can't understand, you know how it is. [ He could go on but that's depressing talk and we don't have depressing talk in this house!! Instead Jesper perks up, his attention directed solely at Peridot. ]
Saints, if we had people who could see the future in our team, that'd be amazing! Think of how much trouble we'd be able to avoid...

and besides, it's Garnet. knowing Garnet and having Garnet's respect (as Peridot believes she has) is proof of how amazing she is.]
Oh. We definitely need Garnet here. Despite her permafused state, she still has the powers of a Sapphire. She sees everything! ...It's a little creepy sometimes.

[ Mission accomplished, Jesper knows all about the "have you heard about my awesome friend X" talk. That's his jam. ]
I was pretty lucky that Kaz showed up so close after I did. He's probably the smartest guy here.

[Peridot...]

He's even suitably impressed by her boasts, that's what friends are for? ]
Saints, so you're like thousands of years old? I never would've known!

Gems live forever. That much time is nothing to us.

[ He can't even imagine. ]
Doesn't that ever get boring?

[but...] But I've only been away from Homeworld's strict system for a few months. It doesn't seem like the other Crystal Gems get bored, though.

[ That's...... normal, right? ]
Working all the time isn't exactly how I'd spend my day...

I've found plenty of things to occupy my time now that I've been liberated, but... I do miss the thrill of creating new gems. Life may have been free of meepmorps and... actual, legitimate freedoms on Homeworld, but it was satisfying.
