So we are to fight. [Odinson is freshly bathed, his hair tied back in a knot. There's a new light in his eyes at the promise of this. Killing robots is a task well-suited to him. This he can do.]

Being newly-come to this group, I know few of you, and few of you know me. I would know the skills and knowledge of those I will fight alongside. Or die alongside, if this enemy is truly so formidable. [The half-smile that follows indicates he doesn't quite believe that's a possibility.]

Myself, I am Odinson, of Asgardia, God of Thunder. [There's the slightest hesitation there, for anyone who'll notice such a thing. Something unsaid.] I have fought across the nine realms of my universe, and will fight here with hammer or blade or my fists until the enemy is routed or I am slain. If any wish to spar or learn to fight in the days before we are summoned to Oska, you have only to call on me.

Likewise, any tacticians or those with knowledge of Oska or the enemy, share your knowledge. We ought have some plan before we are shipped back. [Is that sarcasm???]

I prefer those that use strength- hammers, maces. Yet I will fight to prevail with any weapon I am given.

[He smiles wryly, reaching for something and bringing it into the picture. It's a battered baseball bat.] I made do in Woodhurst, you see.

[With hint of approval in her voice. She'd used much the same weapon at various points, though her own had long since been abandoned. Then, with a gesture to the bat:]

That sounds like something Achilles would say. [And in fact, there's a bit to this man that reminds her of Achilles.] Have you met him yet?

Aye, today. [There's a smile.] His tales are legend, even among the Asgardian gods.

[How cute. A faint smile crosses over her own face in reply.]

I'd never met any gods before joining ALASTAIR, nor any heroes from legend. It certainly is a different experience, but every day here is a new experience, or so I've learned.

I have travelled the ten realms of my universe, seen wonders and spoken with beings as ancient as time itself...

and yet humanity has always surprised me. You are an audacious race, constantly striving for the goals you have set out of your reach. [His words are fond, but his expression and tone don't quite match. It's clear he loves humanity, but there's something that troubles him.]

I am not surprised to find ALASTAIR calling on so many of your kind to help defend the timeline.

Or perhaps it's just the sheer number of us.

[Mathematics and the sciences are not her forte but there are so many humans in comparison to gods and figures of myth. But he isn't wrong, not in her opinion, even if she cants her head to the side at the slight unease that creases his expression.

Either way, I plan on doing the best I can. I hope I won't disappoint.

I've learned to put my past disappointments behind me, but thank you for your words all the same. Let the both of us fight to the best of our ability then, in the next few days.
