VIDEO. UN: LOKI

[ comfortable on a cushy chair, surrounded by a few stacks of books that would make the leaning tower of Pisa jelly, Loki looks somewhat comfortable among the ranks of tomes and paperbacks. ]

Yes, hello—now that we're no longer in mortal peril, nor running for our lives in a illusion to be tested, nor feeling the horrible pang of hunger, etcetera etcetera. [ there's a twist of his fingers, as if he's dismissing it. ]

I'd like to take a moment to urge you to visit your local library. There are several titles to explore for those with inquiring minds. Learning about other bits and pieces of the multiverse is intriguing and necessary in such mandatory occupation such as ours.

[ a dark nailed hand slips beneath the right lapel of his jacket, fingers flicking out with a square of paper, which he deftly unfolds between them. ] I have a list of recommendations, including the following: A Midsummer Night's Madness, The Last Two Bachelors, My Sexiest Mistake, and Darling Cat. Oh, and the Forbidden series, of course.

Some do get a bit, ah ... racy, but reading is important, and we all are long overdo for a break. Treat yourself to forbidden love, unbound desires, all sprinkled with a little bit of scandal. Everyone loves a good scandal. [ someone is pleased about the possibility of it, at least. ]

A book club may be in order. I'm open to suggestions from those who've had the time between tasks and ... erm, well, tasks, I suppose. [ he toys with the paper edge of the nearest book. ]

Of all the books to choose from, you're recommending romance novels.

Racy, you say? Someone ought to read them over to ascertain the potential damage to susceptible minds...

[She volunteers as tribute.]

You can't recommend reading for inquiring minds about the multiverse and then recommend romance novels. I can't think of a more irritating way to learn about the differences between worlds. If you want to read smut, that's your business, but it's hardly educational.

I have not had the pleasure, no... the books in my own manor were more scientific and philosophical in nature- I take it these are more "story" oriented?

Thankfully for the others, I am quite the quick reader- I could provide an opinion.

...

Is this education in human culture?

[What's a romance novel.]

[ Really, Loki? Of all the things to be recommending. ]

As someone else took great pains to inform me -- there are children here.

That's all very well and good if you can read any of them.

As opposed to the more direct and far more satisfying method of simply reading a book of culture or science.

To what purpose?

I haven't seen any generals around. [No one sternly addressing their recruits, no one monitoring what they eat or when or who they talk to, and that's fine-- he gets it-- the universe isn't like the First Order; if it was they wouldn't have been fighting against anything, there wouldn't have been a need to in the first place.]

Kind of makes me wonder how they figure out what's approved or why.

I don't like either.

[ What he does isn't a matter of enjoyment. Don't spin it that way, Loki. ]

Try not to direct anyone underage to these "masterpieces" you've uncovered.
