A werewolf is a kind of therianthrope -- and therianthropes are people who have been struck with a condition that forces them to transform into another kind of animal for one to two nights a month. Sometimes they're dangerous, but as long as they've got a handle on their condition they are just like anyone else most of the time.

And 'valedictorian' is a very specific kind of title offered to a student who's gained the highest honors of their graduating class. It mostly takes into account academic achievement, but the title comes with an implicit obligation to give a speech during the graduation ceremony, so things like public speaking skill and popularity are often taken into account too.
