In the brief span of his memory, he's done his best to live a human life, because that's what has always been presented to him as the ideal. As a normal, pleasant existence.
If he were human, he wouldn't have to live with the constant, nagging fear of becoming useless and being discarded. That, he'd suppose, isn't the normal ghoul experience, but he has the same technical knowledge as any other Investigator at his level, if not more.
