VIDEO. UN: LOKI
[ the sound of the wind storm hollows dully against the cave walls. Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]
Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]
Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.
Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.
NOTE | Feel free to threadjack if that's your thing!! :****

Let's see... hmm.
[He takes several careful moments concocting his lie.]
If I had been born a girl, my name would have been Lillian. My best friend till I was six was a werewolf. I graduated valedictorian from high school.

I almost was. I tied average test scores with this other guy, but he got the official title because they asked him to do the speech. Which apparently was the technical definition they were using of 'valedictorian'.

[He smiles.]
That's too bad. Though I guess you saved yourself some stage fright, I suppose.

Public speaking. Ugh.

You know, I thought about catching people on a technicality like that? But that would be too easy. Sorry, guess again.

Try again!

Were you somehow not valedictorian?
[He's rather dubious on this but werewolf seems too weirdly particular still yet]
no subject
Got it in two, then.
I wasn't valedictorian, but only because I tied with another guy and they ended up giving him the valedictorian's speech at the end of the year. I didn't so much mind; I'm not much of a public speaker, although it would have been nice to have on my resume.

[And he can never think of good questions when he's the asker. >____>]
It's like, you don't win either way. It's a game where you lose or you lose. And you might lose by having to, I don't know, streak. Or eat marshmallows till you puke.

It's entertaining enough to watch, but I agree, it's not a game I enjoy participating in. [Thankfully, she's always been able to aggressively elbow her way out of them upon threat of death.] What types of games do you enjoy then, if any?
[Might be better to focus on positives rather than negatives.]

[With the righteous indignation of Truth or Dare dying down, Evan grins more prosaically, considering the question. Probably video games are ruled out, as he's reasonably sure her world doesn't have that kind of technology... and is she thinking of games that they could theoretically play?]
I used to play logic games with my dad all the time. Riddles, or word puzzles, or a few others that require certain technologies to play. I mean, sometimes things like 20 Questions. Is that one you know?

[Rather than appear disappointed by her lack of knowledge, Evan grins brightly at the young woman on the other end of the network.]
You're not from Earth, are you?
A werewolf is a kind of therianthrope -- and therianthropes are people who have been struck with a condition that forces them to transform into another kind of animal for one to two nights a month. Sometimes they're dangerous, but as long as they've got a handle on their condition they are just like anyone else most of the time.
And 'valedictorian' is a very specific kind of title offered to a student who's gained the highest honors of their graduating class. It mostly takes into account academic achievement, but the title comes with an implicit obligation to give a speech during the graduation ceremony, so things like public speaking skill and popularity are often taken into account too.

No, I hail from a land called Westeros.
(She listens intently, intrigued by what he has to say.)
Are there any Werewolves amongst those chosen by ALASTAIR? I do not - and will not - judge them, but if they need special consideration, I would rather know before they transform.
(Everyone appreciates a heads up, right?)
The idea of a school is strange to me. I was taught all of my lessons at home with a Septa.
What did you learn specifically?
no subject
[He offers her a grin for her last question. She's such a polite young woman, seeming older than she is from the way she speaks, and it puts him a little more at ease than he usually is around children.]
That's a question with a lot of meat to it. Uhh -- well, I mean, the basics, mathematics and the sciences like biology and chemistry and physics, but also the humanities, history, social studies, English, any number of miscellaneous electives... and then in the higher-level learning institutions like the one I'm at, theoretical and vocational studies specific to certain specialities. At home I'm in university for computer sciences, though that's pretty Earth-specific.
How does that compare to your home lessons?
