VIDEO. UN: LOKI

[ the sound of the wind storm hollows dully against the cave walls. Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]

Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

NOTE | Feel free to threadjack if that's your thing!! :****

[This is actually a little harder than the others, in Keats' opinion, because these "facts" are more or less not that bizarre.]

Second one is a truth, I think. First one...hm. Is that the lie?

[personal profile] ex_adept136 2016-07-28 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
The first one is true, actually.

[Said quite easily, as though that's...not a little odd for a fellow in his twenties.

He could confirm about the second, but that'd end things early, right?]

Oh, really? Huh. The third one, then, though out of the two remaining, I have the suspicion it might actually be true...

[personal profile] ex_adept136 2016-07-29 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
That one's false. I don't have any pets... Although talking about it does make me wish I had a cat.

Aw, guess I got it on the second try. That was quite well done, though, you had me fooled...would you really name a cat that, though, if you ever got one?

[personal profile] ex_adept136 2016-07-29 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'm doing better than I might've expected, this is pretty challenging.

But I think it'd make a fine name. After all, Kafka's one of my favorite authors.

That so? I like him too, though his tales always gave me the jitters sometimes, the things that happened in them were so terrible. [He clicks his tongue.] Ah, now I'm just remembering the books I have at home...it's a pity I don't have them here, except for a single book of John Keats' works.

I've been missing the books I had access to back home, as well... Does the library in Oska have any authors you're familiar with?

[He'd recently been asked if a poet he favored was available, but he'd only focused on reading up about magic since it was so foreign to him]

[personal profile] headlining 2016-07-31 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
There are some, actually. But there aren't a lot - it's nowhere near the diversity of authors that some libraries would have at home.

Honestly, I haven't had the time to really read much of anything, lately. All these missions just take up too much of my time. [A sigh.] I don't even have enough time to write...

[Some but not that many...he really will have to investigate, when he gets back. Meanwhile, he can't help but find himself curious]

What sort of writing do you pursue, when you have the time?

Oh, I'm an editorial writer for an occult magazine back home. I mostly write about myths and legends from all over the globe. No fiction stuff, though, I've never been that creative.

[personal profile] ex_adept136 2016-08-02 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds like it must be interesting work. Do you have any favorites?
headlining: (i guess every superhero)

[personal profile] headlining 2016-08-07 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Favorite myths, you mean? Ah, well, I'm from Ireland, so I guess I'm more biased towards Celtic myths, but I have to say, I have a fondness for American folktales as well. There's a certain style to them that you really don't see anywhere else.

[personal profile] ex_adept136 2016-08-07 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that so...? I'll have to see if I can find any books on them, I'm less familiar with those mythologies.

[personal profile] headlining 2016-08-10 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, there isn't a lot of them, but they're out there. Ah, if there were a good library nearby, I'd definitely show you. Maybe I can ask ALASTAIR to bring a good encyclopedia of such tales to me...they could have something like that!

What mythologies are you familiar with?

[personal profile] ex_adept136 2016-08-10 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Japanese primarily, but also Greco-Roman for their prevalence in western literature. I know bits and pieces here and there otherwise, but that knowledge is far from extensive.

Does ALASTAIR take requests for literature?
