Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]

Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

[ No offense, Kida, but the ocean sounds terrifying now that you describe it that way. Vast, dark, the kind of thing that could swallow you whole, and somehow Rey still found herself fascinated by it. ]

But another spoke to me of swimming in it. Surely it can't be all fathomless and terrifying and deadly. And you as well—it sounds as if you find it very beautiful. What do you like best about it?

It is not 'terrifying and deadly'! It is beautiful, and full of mysteries. If you respect it, its bounties will be plentiful. [ She's gesticulating while she speaks, and her hand falls back down when she arrives at Rey's question. ] I enjoy...swimming in it, watching the fish. There is always something new to be discovered.

[ A beat. ]

The fish is also very good.

You told me that it swallows up light and that it can kill you. [ Said flatly, as though she feels summarizing these points will help Kida see her perspective. These things sound terrifying and deadly. ] I've eaten fish before—just once, on Takodana, but it was from a lake, not the ocean. Are they different?

I know, I know, but--! Oh, you really must see it. [ rey will just have to trust her on this one, maybe. ] A lake is smaller, and the water there is fresh, not salted. What land do you hail from, that you have only once eaten a fish?

The desert sands on Jakku took up the whole planet. There was no water for fish to live in.

...I have never seen a desert. How does the land live, with no water?

Nothing lives. [ she shakes her head. ] It's only sand and sun.

And yet you live.

Yeah. I live. [ She doesn't want to talk about it. It wasn't a good fifteen years. ] I'm Rey.

[ She gets the hint. ] And I am Kidagakash. You are well met, Rey. I hope your journeys bring you to the true sea, one day--not this ocean of grass.

[ She nods her 'nice to meet you' and breezes right past it. ]

Honestly, the ocean of grass isn't unwelcome either. I can't believe how green everything is here.

There has been no shortage of green on my journey with ALASTAIR so far. There will be more of it, I suspect.
