VIDEO. UN: LOKI

[ the sound of the wind storm hollows dully against the cave walls. Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]

Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

NOTE | Feel free to threadjack if that's your thing!! :****

Ah, you're military? [he would not have guessed that - though he may be jumping to conclusions based on his own outlook]

I'd say it more closely resembles a police force, though rather than addressing regular crime, we handle ah... [He trails off. Thus far he's always had to explain this, and he surmises he would have to now] There are beings where I come from who prey on humans, and sometimes they've got their own factions and organizations, which then necessitate those larger operations.

I see. [or he can extrapolate, anyway. He's gotten pretty used to accepting weird stuff that doesn't exist in his own world, and this is less out there than some of it] Not quite the same as a full campaign then, but I imagine the principles are similar.

Yes, it's far more short-term than warfare, I'd imagine.

[At most, a matter of days... But such sizable battles were often decided within the span of one]

There is surely far more to a military engagement, but on a smaller scale, I think some aspects are the same.

It depends - some engagements can be a matter of days, while others take months

I can only imagine what a lengthy campaign like that must be like.

A great deal of work, largely. Most of it tedious, interspersed with brief moments of life-or-death fighting.

Truly? I would've thought there'd be more fighting amid all of that...

Getting hundreds of people, most of them on foot, to and from a battlefield takes far, far longer than the actual battle itself.

I see your point... Without mass transit, that would be difficult.

Yes - even with ships, travel is still long.

Where I'm from, we have more efficient means, but overseas travel is still relatively time-consuming, so I can imagine to some degree.
