Within the limitations of my profession, I take custody of them. An investigator may claim "ownership rights", thereby sparing a ghoul's life, presumably for intel they might provide, though this does mean they remain in a detainment facility.

That's a good point. Does your ability vary much based on the complexity of the object involved?
