With a full heart I shall tell of Patroclus' deeds, all that my dear companion has done. Of the captains who served me he was far the bravest in leading the Myrmidons into the bloody jaws of battle, ever clothed in courage and filled with fighting spirit. None in all of Achaea match the might of my spear, the Pelian ash that my father received as a wedding day gift, but my dear friend was fearsome enough to scatter the horse-taming Trojans as sheep scatter for a wolf. He once felled a son of Zeus almighty - his godlike blood Patroclus' spear drank. These and many more tales can I tell.
