Allow me to take this opportunity to formally thank all of you. I was held in prison for some time along with some others. I understand how much trouble you went through just to aid us.

There isn't a lot I can do to repay the favor. For that I apologize.

On another note, I'd like to ask you all a question.

What do you know about magic? I've been intrigued by its concept and origins for some time, yet I hardly know anything. Magic is a difficult thing for me to grasp. I'd appreciate it if we could sit down and discuss it in detail.

He isn't really sure if having gotten his heart back has affected his magic these days, but he's positive that having one was never necessary to cast magic before.]

In my experience, definitely.

Mm, well... it takes a lot of concentration, at least when you first start out. It's a little different for everyone, I think, but the way I learned was to imagine the way the subject of your intended spell made you feel. [Heh, well. How it used to make him feel. You know, when he'd been able to.] So, like, for example: if you're trying to cast Fire, just something small, think of a match or a candle. Whatever those things mean to you, focus on them, and try and channel that feeling into your hands.

So obviously, certain spells come more naturally to certain people, depending on your experiences with elements and situations.

It... gets more complicated with higher-level stuff and spell-melding and so on, but... that's the basic gist, I'd say.

To be honest, ALASTAIR has given me the ability to move the earth beneath us. I have no prior experience in wielding magic so this should help me greatly.

Magic requires a lot of concentration. I fall short in that regard. [The dude needs to train more man. He'll take any advice he can get. Even just talking about magic helps.]

Mm, I've got no talent with earthen magic, so I'm not sure how much help I'd be, but if you wanna get together sometime I'll see if I can give ya a few pointers. [It wouldn't be the first time.]

Sure thing! I don't really have a whole lot on my plate at the moment, so if there's a good time for you, just hit me up and we'll see what happens. Elemental magic is usually all conjured in the same manner, in my experience, so even if earth ain't my forte, I can probably still help ya out a little. Who knows? Maybe you'll turn out to be a natural!

There's a lot to consider when you start thinking about magic in a broad spectrum. I don't want to be narrow minded so I'll speak with as many magicians as I can. [He thinks about an appropriate time and date. Once he comes up with an answer he speaks up again.]

Hey, no shame in that; learning a new skill can be pretty intimidating, especially something as volatile as magic. Better to have more guidance than less, I'd say.

[He waits while Julius thinks, then grins a bit.]

Sure, I should be. I'm staying at the Abel Inn, how about you? [He realizes suddenly that he never even introduced himself.] Ah-- I'm Lea, by the way.

I'm staying near the outskirts with a couple of goblins. They're sheltering me. Would it be possible for you to drop by here? It's difficult for me to maneuver around human territory.

[He gives a nod. He's still a little wary of the goblins, but he figures if he's there with a purpose they probably won't give him too much trouble.]

Sure, I can do that. Probably better to practice magic away from populated areas, anyhow. [He furrows his brow a little.] Were you... ah, one of the folks locked up in the prison, before? [He knows the guards are still patrolling a lot of the town, and figures that's why Julius has been forced to flee to the outskirts.]

Thanks to everyone here my life was saved. The authorities captured me after I spoke with a member of the order. It was more trouble than it was worth.

[None of them would have made it out alive if it weren't for the new recruits.]

Ah, I see. In that case, I'd definitely say better to stick to somewhere near the outskirts of town, then. [He waves a hand.] So long as your goblin friends promise not to jump me or something, I can meet you there.
