Hello everyone. My name is Julius Visconti.
Allow me to take this opportunity to formally thank all of you. I was held in prison for some time along with some others. I understand how much trouble you went through just to aid us.
There isn't a lot I can do to repay the favor. For that I apologize.
[He bows his head down in apology.]
I promise that I'll work even harder from now. [It's the least he can do around here. Julius isn't going to waste his time.]
On another note, I'd like to ask you all a question.
What do you know about magic? I've been intrigued by its concept and origins for some time, yet I hardly know anything. Magic is a difficult thing for me to grasp. I'd appreciate it if we could sit down and discuss it in detail.

Is there somethin' specific you wanna know, or...? I'm just not really sure how to like... try and explain it all in one go.
no subject
I'll keep that in mind. How would you normally control it? Is it something that comes to you naturally?
[Explaining it in one go would probably make this more confusing.]
no subject
In my experience, definitely.
Mm, well... it takes a lot of concentration, at least when you first start out. It's a little different for everyone, I think, but the way I learned was to imagine the way the subject of your intended spell made you feel. [Heh, well. How it used to make him feel. You know, when he'd been able to.] So, like, for example: if you're trying to cast Fire, just something small, think of a match or a candle. Whatever those things mean to you, focus on them, and try and channel that feeling into your hands.
So obviously, certain spells come more naturally to certain people, depending on your experiences with elements and situations.
It... gets more complicated with higher-level stuff and spell-melding and so on, but... that's the basic gist, I'd say.

You and me both. Although I still think it's hokey.

A fair assumption.
You can never be too certain when it comes to these things. I admit that I'm always quite baffled to see people using it so casually.
im so sorry million years later and a different un sobs
My biggest gripe is it has no standard base definition between all these variations everyone claims. Until someone comes forward with one, the idea collectively is ridiculous to me.
WHOA DIFFERENT USERNAME..fancy dw about it!!

Where I'm from, you might consider it the life force that exists in all living things, in greater or lesser degrees.
Not everyone can make use of it, and in more modern eras, the number of those who can has diminished since ancient times.
It is a well-kept secret from most of the world now, though it wasn't always so.

[It shouldn't be used thoughtlessly. Just think of what could happen if power fell into the wrong hands. ]
People still practice it in your world. They must spend a great deal of time training in order to fully utilize its potential.
[No one said magic would be easy to use.]
no subject
[ No power should be used thoughtlessly, but that's another discussion entirely. ]
There are mage families that spend entire lifetimes and generations perfecting their art and passing it down to their children.
Walking away from that is almost considered treasonous.

[the sharp look in her eyes implies he should pay them back, first. but, as for the part about magic:]
I know so much about magic we couldn't possibly cover it all in one sitting.
video;
You're well versed in magic. Can we begin with the basics?
[It's a good place to start!]
video;
rin's expression darkens for a moment, though it fades soon enough.]
We could, but it's not a topic best suited to conversation over the jewels. You'll get the most out of it if you see it in person.
[see what? magic? the basics of magic? he'll just have to find out.]
If you're willing to head out somewhere and treat me for my time [cha-ching], I can meet you.

Its fundamentals are similar to science in a way. [That's what he's taking from this.]

[Sakura's a responsible and kind person. Julius isn't worried about how she's been using magic all this time.]
Tell me more about these Clow Cards you mentioned. I haven't heard of anything like it before.
[A unique power that's different from others? That sounds really interesting.]

Oh, and I know a bunch about magic — especially the dark stuff? Mostly, it tends to be made with some pretty gross stuff. Think charred baby bones, teeth, weird crap like that.
no subject
Yeah, I was tossed in a second time and we all shared a single cell. We could have had a picnic. No one brought extra refreshments.
[Wow Julius is resorting to joking about prison inappropriately! It was just that bad.]
Really now? I'm not exactly seeing a good image here. Why is it necessary for them to be so absurd?
[That's gross man.]

[ He can't say he knows a whole lot, but he never got a chance to talk to Professor Illyana about what she did. Maybe he can at least find out what the questions should be. ]
It seems like some kind of external force.
voice;
There must be some kind of setback to it. Casting magic without a cost--that just seems too convenient.
[It sounds dangerous to him. Even talking about it helps him out considerably.]

In this world, I'm not really sure yet how exactly magic works. So far I know that those with goblin blood can use it, but hopefully their blood isn't the source of it. ( because blood magic is never good )
video;
This world is still shrouded in mystery to us, but yes I look forward to working with you all the same.
As for the specifics---What kind of magic are you familiar with and how frequently is it used?
[No one uses magic in the Far East Branch. The closest thing they have to it is the Power of Blood. It activates through their will but it isn't exactly magic either.]
