[ Undyne had said she wanted more guidance from ALASTAIR. Here she is, with more guidance, and she doesn’t know if she likes it. Looking more ragged than ever, she’s standing with Pearl, with the volcano Nalalona in the background. ]

Alright chumps, listen up, it’s time for some teamwork! ALASTAIR has some ideas about what we can do to get the volcano going again, so everyone can get their powers back. ...it’s going to involve a bomb.

[Pearl clears her throat, despite the fact her body is flickering in and out of view at some points during the video. The Gem stands tall as she gestures back to the volcano.]

This is correct. ALASTAIR has entrusted us with schematics of creating a bomb and a catapult. It’s up to us to gather the necessary supplies and assemble them.

They have observed a high level of tectonic plate activity here, near the Nalalona volcano. With enough force -- the bomb in this case -- we can possibly trigger an eruption and restore the natives’ Gifts, along with our own magical abilities. The volcano’s opening is large enough for us to hit our mark with the bomb. It’s up to us to put it all together.

We can’t afford to not try. Look around you, half our team relies on magic just to exist. This isn’t just about helping the natives use magic anymore, this about saving ourselves. If you don’t use magic, good for you, but if you have a heart, you’ll understand why this is important, and why if I catch anyone slacking off, they’ll be answering to my spear about why they don't think it's important. Got it?!

[Pearl glances to Undyne and offers her a weak smile. The situation they were all facing was quite dire. She faces the feed again.]

I know we have the ability to make this work. And we will, if we all work together on this. Every little bit helps!

[ OOC note: There will be a mod-posted mass log on the 16th for gathering/construction/etc. Pearl and Undyne will be around, and feel free to use this post to chat among each other as well! ]

[ As soon as the feed goes off, Undyne slumps, and looks towards Pearl, weary in a way that's really unlike her. ]

You really think this is gonna work? I don't know any of that science stuff, but I know that exploding stuff doesn't usually help.

[Pearl looks equally worried. But why would they have offered the schematics in the first place?]

I honestly have no idea. Explosions are always unpredictable. I mean, I can understand their reasoning for it but. It is a little brash in their approach.

[aspearation]

But even if the explosion works... what if it stops working again? It might be enough to save our hides, but will it be enough to be permanent? Is that even how volcanoes work??

[ The gears are turning; this is so far out of her comfort zone, but she's really trying to work through it. Something seems off. ]

[beyourrock]

I don't know.

[She hugs her arms, her form flickering once. She winces, concentrating to keep her form in one piece.]

But what else can we do to restore magic here? This is the first time in which ALASTAIR has offered any kind of help to us.

[aspearation]

Yeah. Yeah it is...

[ She gives Pearl a wary, worried glance but says nothing of it. ]

It just seems too easy, that's all. If they could just do some science from wherever they are, why did they need us here for so long?

[beyourrock]

Perhaps they didn't know what exactly was going on here until now. At the beginning, it seemed like everything was fine, don't you think?

And after all that happened at Chantes, I think we deserved a little time to ourselves. But now we're back in gear.

[Another flicker. Well, mostly.]

[aspearation]

I don't know...

[ She sees that, then slumps a little. It feels like more than just her magic is being drained. All her resolve, all her... determination. Something still feels wrong, but the fight is gone, and she conceded. ]

Yeah. You're probably right. And hey, maybe they'll actually try to find this stuff out at the start next time rather than waiting until we've been here for a few weeks.

Perhaps they will.

[Pearl reaches a hand out to place it on Undyne's shoulder, but it phases through her shoulder instead. She draws her hand back awkwardly as she tries to offer her a brighter smile, despite the dull circumstances.]

Some good will come out of this. I know it. ALASTAIR needs all the recruits it can get. If more than half of their recruits here are nearly fading out of existance... well they wouldn't let their assests go to waste like that.

[aspearation]

[ Undyne watches, and can't really be horrified, but saddened. She reaches out to try and touch Pearl instead, but pulls her hand back when she realizes that's stupid and won't have a better result. ]

Yeah. Assets. [ She sighs and draws a hand or a face. ] Alphys would know what to do if she were here. Or Asgore. They're way better with this kind of stuff than I am.

[beyourrock]

[Pearl's face falls a little at Undyne's comments. She was always so confident and so proud in what she did. Even returning a little deer's doll to them with such determination over something so small.

The Gem concentrates more, solidifying her hand to properly place it on her shoulder. Firm, with a reassuring squeeze.]

Undyne, you're doing great. And don't forget, you're not alone in this, okay? We'll get through this. I know we will. Your determination is one of your best aspects. I admire it.

[aspearation]

[ Undyne cracks a smile, shaky but sincere, and puts her hand over Pearl's. ]

Yeah. We'll do it together. ALASTAIR did pick two pretty awesome non-humans for this kind of thing. If I've got the determination, you've got the brains.

Come on, let's start looking for a good construction site.
