[shortly after the storm clears on may 11th and the network connection between both sides of the group is reestablished, the following post appears:]

We're fine, as far as I know. I don't think anyone's dead, at least.

The storm that separated us was brought about by a Dakal named Pomarr. Some of you may remember her as our feline friend who sold her soul to Ryba—or whatever it is she did—to continue to live on after death.

She swept us to an island that looked like it was raised from the seafloor. It wasn't a vacation, but there were definitely remnants of what those big cats must have called home.

Her plan is to revive her entire race, in the same way Ryba "revived" her. As if life-or-death deals with shady goddesses aren't concerning enough, she wants to grant Ryba the power to carry out this mass revival by having her suck Nalanni dry. Pomarr understandably doesn't care much for Nalanni after she drowned everyone she loved; in fact, she showed us this in morbid detail. She's taken Nalanni. Hence, all the Nalawi losing their Gifts and all of this inconvenience we have to deal with.

Pomarr knows where Nalanni is, but she's asking us not to interfere, and she wouldn't give us the opportunity to speak with Nalanni when I requested it. For some reason, she didn't expect that we would be suffering like the Nalawi are. She's promised to try to fix that.

What do we do now, ALASTAIR? I can share anything else you want to know about our meeting with Pomarr, or Yukimura Sanada-san or Mr. Keats can, but this is most of it. We have a situation where the balance of this whole world might be upended if we sit and twiddle our thumbs.

I don't think I need to remind anyone of the potential consequences of messing with either goddess. Or a litter of zombie cats roaming free.

(( ooc: infodump for rin, yukimura, and keats' conversation with a dakal npc, for one of the plot slots! feel free to handwave your character (in either the marooned group or the left behind group) learned this info by reading the post or talking with rin/yukimura/keats/another recruit. yukimura and keats may also be replying to tags! ))

A point that concerns me muchly. There are several amongst our number I trust with the capabilities to stand against the divine... but that is when they are not hampered as we are now.

Now... I fear they would simply rush to their own slaughter.

[She tries to smile, to be reassuring- she's the senior here, technically, but.]

... I will weather this just fine. Thank you.

I wonder if gathering people to test the extent of what they can do without their abilities would be beneficial, if they are not willing to stop and consider for a moment.

At least they would have an idea of their limitations this way.

[She may be senior in terms of how long she has been here, but not in terms of years and experience. She can be as fragile as she needs to be, he's not the sort to tattle.]

Weathering is not quite the same as handling and coming out the other side just fine.

One would hope that might open some eyes, but I fear the more vocal spearheads of this entire thing are past such logic.

[That's the problem. The only thing Sieglinde has to use is her words and if they're beyond words... No. She has something else- but she can't use that... Can she?]</small - that is true, but. It is better than coming out dead, no?

They are devoted to what they see as their cause.

[The words are... probably more telling than he realises. What they see as their cause. But if they can't persuade them to simmer down and think over their plans, trying to make sure they are all as well equipped as possible for whatever may happen is probably the next best option.]

I mean... you, emotionally, rather than them physically. A lot of people you know are arguing among themselves over something with no easy outcome. [He... hasn't really seen Masamune this personally angry, not for a good couple of years.]

There is little wrong with devotion, and it is not a cause I find entirely unfounded... but I am against such recklessness.

[It's not like she doesn't understand the anger over what was seen- she was also horrified by it.

But to let that go to one's head, make one reckless and foolhardy...]

... I wish they were not at odds. With each other, and with me. But there may be no helping it.

You are right, devotion is often a good thing. It can be dangerous too, when devotion becomes fanatic and leads to recklessness and lashing out at people who do not share your opinion.

[He isn't sure if he agrees with the idea of them playing god in the place of... gods. Or the realisation that people are applying their own opinions and experiences to a scenario at the cost of considering the best option for the inhabitants of this world. Maybe this is how a leader thinks - a year or so ago he would have been giddy with the thought of doing what was "right", but now he can only think back to Nobushige and how his urge to do what he saw as the right thing had lead to the death of a man following and trusting him.

Justice can lead to tunnel vision, and a leader cannot be blinded by justice at the cost of the men who trust them.]

They can be at odds with you without leaping down your throat and attempting to guilt you into agreeing with them. [His voice is steady and serious.] But you are right; tempers are high and people are making very emotional decisions.

... That, I know.

[After all... The women who had raised her, lied to her all her life, been willing to kill her rather than let her leave... They had been dedicated. Dedicated to their duties, to their country...

She tries to smile, let it all fall away.]

It is precisely because it is such an emotional issue... In the end I cannot be angry with them for such reactions. Eventually they will calm themselves... I just hope it can be done naturally.

[Because even if she would support it... She'd rather not need to restrain members of their own group.]

[Yukimura sighs.]

As long as they do not hold your decisions against you. [He would hope not. Sieglinde is young, and this is a heavy situation. He is fully aware that children are more than able to carry heavy weights on their shoulders when they have to, but he'd like to think they wouldn't have to.

He is, after all, an idealist.]

Then I too will hope these feelings will plateau in time.
grunehexe: (cornered)

[personal profile] grunehexe 2016-05-23 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
Then let us hope they can see reason.

[... for both things.]

[personal profile] dairekka 2016-05-24 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I am sure they will. Given some time, if necessary.

[personal profile] grunehexe 2016-05-27 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Then for the things that can afford time, they shall have time.

[The rest... well. There isn't anything to be done for those.]

[Yukimura exhales slowly, and nods.]

You show great maturity, Lady Sullivan. [It is very impressive.]
