Like a few others here, I'm among those who met the goddess Nalanni. And like others there are things I learned from having a conversation with her. First and foremost, I'd like to request some help in conveying a message she intended for her people.

She wanted them to know that she loves them, and that she knows they can go on without her.

At the time, I was struck with the thought that she'd considered her own passing a possibility. And now that I've seen mentions of slaying gods here, it seems she wasn't wrong. Maybe some of you know more than me, but I'm not convinced it's the only way. Having said that, I'm not blind to the reality that those are our orders, and that there are those who will follow them.

I'm more interested in helping the Nalawi. I gave my word that I would do whatever I could, and so... To those who are already making efforts to ensure the Nalawi are able to sustain themselves, whatever may come, I'd like to volunteer any help I can provide.

If anyone wants further information on the conversation I had with Nalanni, please let me know. I'm unsure how much would be redundant, since admittedly, I've picked up on recent developments here and there.

They're a predatory species that feeds on humans or other ghouls. Aside this they can consume coffee but biologically speaking anything else will make them ill.

There are cases of mutation as a result of preying on other ghouls in great amounts, but otherwise, the result is an accumulation of RC cells. Those cells are used in a number of their functions.

So fresh kills only... and only humans? No dogs, or?

Humans or other ghouls...or coffee. Consuming anything else makes them violently ill.

[And it's downright debilitating. 0/10 do not recommend]

Both humans and ghouls have RC cells but they're far more concentrated in ghouls, and so far as I know, only have a functional purpose for them.

I couldn't say just why that is, but a ghoul's digestive enzymes don't reject it. By the same token it isn't repellent to their senses like anything else humans might consume.

Yes. Some ghouls are indiscriminate killers who hunt in excess for...any number of reasons not necessary to survival.

[Though this isn't always the case...the person he used to be wasn't linked with any series of murders, but he sure has a file.

You'd take them for human when they weren't hunting, but...

[Some just kill indiscriminately. Not that the CCG wasn't intent on stomping out ghouls in general, but priority was placed on those who posed the greatest threat]

I can always stand to improve, I'm only the lowest rank among Senior Investigators, but I can hold my own when I need to.

[In her own life, she had only been introduced to the ideas of modern weapons, guns, tanks, the day before ALASTAIR took her- far more used to the idea of knives, hands, bows...

But they came from worlds apart. It could be anything, and she'd need suspend belief and go along with it.]

I have a quinque - a specialized weapon for combating ghouls.

Quinque?

[She tries to wrack her brain for something, and only comes up with Quinque viae, but she's pretty sure that's. Not it.]

Is it some sort of firearm?

[Weapons made from the predatory organs of ghouls sounds a tad macabre, so he suffices with...]

Types vary widely, but the one I use is a sword.

[Don't you worry, Sasaki... Sieglinde will show you on volunteer rounds. She pulled the lens out of a sea serpent's rotting eyeball to use as a scrying tool last week, ur cool fam]

A sword- I see. Your fighting skills will likely be of use.. if not against the goddesses, then in defense. Or the next mission.

[Oh good, someone can understand how these things go. Extreme waste not, want not...]

Ideally, I'd protect rather than destroy... Although I understand there's not always a choice.

[But nothing wrong with having a preference, whether it's feasible or not, right?]

As I would rather heal than hurt. - But, there is not. In this case, no matter how comfortable we are with their deaths... it seems that the goddesses will die. If not by our hand, then by our comrades'.

It is not that I do not understand why. If ALASTAIR is not lying, and their existence will lead this planet to an early demise... then it becomes a matter of the mob and the magistrate.

But it is nothing to rejoice in.

Their queue times will be laughably short well done nerds- ahem]

I only wish we knew for certain that it really is the only way. Some seem very sure of it, but it's hard to believe in a system whose processes aren't explained or shown. We're only left with the conclusion.

Still, it's as you say. The order has been issued, and there are those who will carry it out.

To doubt it would be to doubt ALASTAIR's word... and even if we do that, obeying their word is the only way we may continue to a promised eventual possibility of return home.

... so it is a quandary. I will heal those who injure themselves in pursuit of obedience to it, and perhaps it is the best way... but I would rather not be part of it.

Perhaps that is selfish, but it is a shame.

That's true. If we defy them there may be no hope of being returned, for all we know. I'm not unfamiliar with consequences for being deemed useless, though only time will tell what the nature of our circumstances really is.

I hope you'll remain safe. For my part I don't intend to participate in that, but I'll do what I can to help the people here. What good is the prolonged life of a world if its populace can't sustain itself?
