So we got a buncha old fashioned guys who are used to swinging around swords all the time and stuff, right? It seems like it, I can't go 20 feet without tripping over someone that's never seen a minipad before. God, would it kill that rift stuff to start taking more people from the modern era?
Anyway, point is I need one of you guys — or, hell, a buncha you guys — to start teaching. I've got some students in mind, foremost being me, because the training room here doesn't cut it if you've never even seen a fucking sword before. And if anyone else sucks at medieval stuff too lemme know, we'll make it a whole party.
Achilles and Koltira, you guys are my top medieval guys that know what you're doing, don't you fucking ignore this.
[ a beat ]
Also, I've got this little super strength issue where I might break any weapons I try and use, so... there's that, too. Still working on that obstacle. Any ideas, lemme know.
[ ooc: here's a planning post for teaching stuff!! ]

In that case I won't offer you the use of my sword, but I've spent the last year retraining to peak condition after some time of inactivity, so I can run you through how to train from the beginning to proficiency if your chosen men are unable.
Are you able to swing about a shield or pole without breaking it in half? If you're unable to wield a sword you could still learn how to read your opponent's body to block their blows. That really is the most important part of parring.

And as for shields and stuff... I dunno. I've accidentally broken a lot of crap since I got stronger.

[She sounds far too impressed with that idea]

Hmmm... well, that's what learning to thrust at the right angle is for. If weight is not a problem for you then perhaps you could make a shield out of a tougher material than most mere bipedals can lift.
[She is utterly intrigued by this proposition]
But theorycrafting is no replacement for trial and error. Would you care to meet so we can have a trial of what might work and what won't?

[She switches over to video so Ramir can get a glimpse of her face]
I'm Serene. Shall we meet by the training rooms?
no subject
Anyway, yeah, meet you there.
[ And she's less by the training room and more in the training room, but she figures this lady will get it. She's also the only one around, sitting on a simulated bench and kicking a leg idly and scanning the network as she waits. ]

Ana Ramir? I'm Serene Charlord.
[She offers out her calloused hand for a shake]
Now, as for cost-effective, are we actually on a budget? This organisation looks like they could spare the money.

Charlord, badass. [ That goes with a quick flash of a grin. ] And no, but you gotta come from a whole lot more money than I do if you'd wanna go around breaking a buncha weapons when you could try finding one that works better instead.
[ She's... not really broke anymore, but that's a mindset that takes some doing to get out of. ]

[She grins briefly at the praise for her name. Ahh, poverty, she can respect that experience can leave a lingering carefulness, even if she's never possessed the mindset herself]
Then will you show me your strength? I will have a better idea of how to aid you if I know what sort of blows you can deal and handle.
[Pulling her hand away, she chews on her fingernail as she considers]
If I were a researcher I would know how to instruct the room to design an apparatus that would show us what forces you can create, but if I am fully honest I do not know enough about material properties to be able to translate that into what materials you should or should not bother trying to wield. Ahh, but I prefer to judge by experience anyway.

How about a brick wall. Everyone knows what a brick wall should be. [ She doesn't wait for confirmation. She glances around them, voice lifting to address the room at large. ] Hey, training room, do us up a brick wall! Normal properties, just right here.
[ It takes a few seconds. But then, with a shimmer that turns rapidly into solidity, a brick wall obligingly stretches along the way to their left, with no end in sight to either direction. Ramir gestures toward it with a smile. ]
You wanna test it, make sure it's up to snuff? [ Not made of cardboard, or anything. ]
