So we got a buncha old fashioned guys who are used to swinging around swords all the time and stuff, right? It seems like it, I can't go 20 feet without tripping over someone that's never seen a minipad before. God, would it kill that rift stuff to start taking more people from the modern era?

Anyway, point is I need one of you guys — or, hell, a buncha you guys — to start teaching. I've got some students in mind, foremost being me, because the training room here doesn't cut it if you've never even seen a fucking sword before. And if anyone else sucks at medieval stuff too lemme know, we'll make it a whole party.

Achilles and Koltira, you guys are my top medieval guys that know what you're doing, don't you fucking ignore this.

Also, I've got this little super strength issue where I might break any weapons I try and use, so... there's that, too. Still working on that obstacle. Any ideas, lemme know.

I'd think the obvious solution would be to just forgo weapons entirely and fight bare-handed.

In that case I won't offer you the use of my sword, but I've spent the last year retraining to peak condition after some time of inactivity, so I can run you through how to train from the beginning to proficiency if your chosen men are unable.

Are you able to swing about a shield or pole without breaking it in half? If you're unable to wield a sword you could still learn how to read your opponent's body to block their blows. That really is the most important part of parring.

I've not taken a student in spear forms and sword thrusts, nor have I entertained the notion before now, but your suggestion is not to my disliking, daughter of Jolanda. Indeed it would be propitious to have a better trained crew. Who are these students who seek to learn the arts of war?

I mean, I can understand why you want to bone up on some martial skills, we've got the time and the dangerous job description for it, that makes sense....

But I've seen you run through trees like they weren't even there. Granted that was an unusual day, but still. Why don't you get a giant hammer and just Thor anyone who gets in your way?

But I'm familiar with weapons and hand-to-hand, with some experience training others. If you still need a hand, I wouldn't mind the exercise.

Although, I also got something you'd have a hard time breaking.

I'm not a fan of the sword, though I know enough. I'd teach you archery, if you'd like, but you'd certainly need a specialty bow.

In my world, sword fighting isn't old-fashioned in the least. (It would be strange for her to see no swords.) I could teach you about my world - considering it has been called "medieval" by others - but I am not a warrior.

There are blades that would be harder to break.

Why do you imagine swordplay to be medieval?

Do not allow inferior weapons and relics to cloud your judgement. There are other ways. Better ways, better technology.
