heavyhitter: you traded me away long gone (with a shower of yeahs and whatevers)

voice, @TARANTO

So we got a buncha old fashioned guys who are used to swinging around swords all the time and stuff, right? It seems like it, I can't go 20 feet without tripping over someone that's never seen a minipad before. God, would it kill that rift stuff to start taking more people from the modern era?

Anyway, point is I need one of you guys — or, hell, a buncha you guys — to start teaching. I've got some students in mind, foremost being me, because the training room here doesn't cut it if you've never even seen a fucking sword before. And if anyone else sucks at medieval stuff too lemme know, we'll make it a whole party.

Achilles and Koltira, you guys are my top medieval guys that know what you're doing, don't you fucking ignore this.

[ a beat ]

Also, I've got this little super strength issue where I might break any weapons I try and use, so... there's that, too. Still working on that obstacle. Any ideas, lemme know.

[ ooc: here's a planning post for teaching stuff!! ]

[Here comes the booming voice of all of her lewd teacher-and-student fantasies.]

I've not taken a student in spear forms and sword thrusts, nor have I entertained the notion before now, but your suggestion is not to my disliking, daughter of Jolanda. Indeed it would be propitious to have a better trained crew. Who are these students who seek to learn the arts of war?

Indeed should the son of Klim learn to take up arms as do all honorable men across Hellas. Still does it surprise me that there are men of other races who do not train their sons in the most noble arts of war, for I can scarcely remember a time before I knew the weight of the spear's ashen shaft in my hand. Nonetheless he possesses a fighting spirit befitting a warrior, as I witnessed when he entered battle against the stone giants wielding naught but a water pail. Young Evan too ought to learn - although his lithe form inspires not the awe that a warrior's body should, I can see that he possesses a noble heart.

[Yes, this is relevant to waving a sword around. Trust him. Here he pauses and seems to deliberate before he lays down his next words.]

I must confess that in the tradition of my father's people, and of all the Achaean nations, skill with spear and sword are upheld as the pinnacle of a man's achievements for which he is lavished with honor - they are not women's arts. However, I have heard tales of a race of women warriors known as the Amazons who claim Anatolia for their native land. If these mortals are able to feel the strength of Pallas Athena coursing through their women's hearts and thus take up spear and shield as do men, then I cannot see why you should not too, daughter of Jolanda. Fast-dancing Olivia as well, although delicate in appearance and gentle in nature, possesses great passion in her heart and in her limbs, and so I shall not discourage her from this task.

Already this is a great number of students for one to take on. Although I am lauded as the best of the Achaeans in strength and bravery, I dare not presume myself a more adept teacher than Chiron, he who has taught me much and is my second father. For even he had to stretch to accommodate two pupils at once when my father Peleus delivered both me and dear Patroclus unto his care.

[Do you not wish you could listen to the rich dulcet tenor of his voice all day? Is that not why you sought him as a teacher?]

Very well - then I shall take a student onto whom I can pass my wealth of skills, and perhaps if I am feeling generous I shall accommodate more. You mentioned too Koltira, did you not? The man has made most plain his hatred for me, and as for me, I care not a splinter for him either. Therefore do not expect us to collaborate one with the other in this endeavor.

I am not difficult to get along with - I simply cannot tolerate slights against my honor or my people. Would not any man feel the same? I assure you there is none else worth noting in this regard.

[She is all the more tolerable when she wants something from him - already this arrangement suits him.]

What means this, "saint"?

Then I shall accept the compliment you pay. How sweet your tongue has suddenly grown, daughter of Jolanda, even laden with curses as it is. But I suppose were such curses too removed, I should hardly recognize her with whom I speak.

[Who even knows how a British accent translates into Ancient Greek... But she may be able to hear his raised eyebrow and curled lip through the touch of exasperation in his voice.]

Why must you speak in such a strange manner?

i realize i'm probably setting myself up here

It hardly occurred to me that I should appreciate the babbling noises which endlessly spill forth from your lips. Is such a practice common among your people?
heelies: (( war-loving ))

more like achilles has no right to talk about other ppl's endless babbling

I am not against fun - I delight in sport and leisure as much as any man. It is simply that you and I appear to have rather different ideas of what diversions are pleasing and which are not.

[He is picking up that which you are putting down, Ramir.]

Certainly across all races of men pleasure is to be found in the embrace of a lover - all would agree but those maidens of Artemis of the silver bow who to their chastity hold fast.

I have been known to be rather persuasive in such matters.

Is this truly so? I would not have pinned you as such.

[Is that a double entendre? Perhaps.]

Then you would presume to pin me down instead?

[Now he scoffs although he knows perfectly well her alarming strength. He is not yet acquainted with the wonderful world of being topped by a hot lady.]
