VIDEO. UN: LOKI

[ the sound of the wind storm hollows dully against the cave walls. Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]

Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

NOTE | Feel free to threadjack if that's your thing!! :****

It is not.

But you are saying that you do not have them where you come from? In the past I might call that a waste but now I think it to be a good thing... less time for the young to waste playing games.

Games aren't that bad in your world are they? Children need something that they can have fun with and not just help with work all the time, and games can help them learn as well.
backthatup: (but they can't)

[personal profile] backthatup 2016-07-29 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
That much is true... but those sort of games have a way of pulling children away to where they never do any work and learn very little about anything.
strikingtwice: (judging eyebrow)

Really? How do they do that? Why would someone make a game like that?

[He's honestly a bit perplexed, used to the games of playing at hunting or other things which helped young elves learn how to take care of the camp and learn skills to help the clan.]

Well, it's intended so that children spend their money on it and the place ends up becoming rich.

So... greed, really. [ Wow. He makes arcades sound a lot more nefarious than what they are. ]

[personal profile] strikingtwice 2016-07-31 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
For rich children, I take it? [Since he can't imagine any other children being given coin to spend so frivolously, if at all. The children of his clan wouldn't have had any of their own, and he didn't imagine others who had to work and scrape by for a living would be able to give their children much either.]

If you had the... best score? for all of those things you must have spent a lot of coin there.

For any children really that can convince their parents to let them play.

[ ... ] A lot longer than what I should have and ignored quite a bit of my own responsibilities to do so.

When you put it like that, it does sound like a bad thing yes. Why did you spend so much time on that instead of something else that you should have been doing?

Youthful rebellion?
strikingtwice: (hey that was actually funny)

[personal profile] strikingtwice 2016-08-06 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
What were you rebelling against? Your parents? Something else?
backthatup: (watch me while i walk away)

[personal profile] backthatup 2016-08-07 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
My parents and my clan.

[ A soft laugh. ] It felt like things were being planned out for me and I wanted to show that I was better than that.
strikingtwice: (well that sounds interesting)

[personal profile] strikingtwice 2016-08-07 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
You have a clan as well?

[The story is oddly not that dissimilar from others he's heard before, though strange to hear from someone who looks like the other man does.]

What plan did they have for you, if you don't mind my asking?
backthatup: (feel how hot it's gettin')

[personal profile] backthatup 2016-08-07 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Had a clan. I'm afraid that it's now a shadow of its former self.

[ As well? This person has a clan, too. How unfortunate. Ah, but isn't he projecting his feelings a little. ]

I was the youngest son to the clan leader. They wanted me to learn how to become a ninja... well, I suppose I'd call it more like being an assassin. They wanted me to care more about what they were doing. Perhaps, they wanted me to help out more with their control over the empire. [ A small shrug. It's hard to tell when he didn't want to listen. ]
strikingtwice: (sad or just falling asleep? YOU DECIDE)

[personal profile] strikingtwice 2016-08-09 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry to hear that you're no longer with your clan. [Losing a clan is something that strikes close to home, and Meallan knows he could at least try to return to his if he wished, even if it wouldn't be the best idea. Being unable to... he can't imagine it being anything but painful.]

But why would you rebel against all of that? Wouldn't you want to follow in the steps of your father?
backthatup: (i bend and snap)

[personal profile] backthatup 2016-08-09 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all right...

No, I didn't want to do something like that... I didn't like the idea that my entire future was being planned out.
