Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]

Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

[ It's almost like the offer surprises her in its own way. She blinks, hesitates, then nods. ]

Yeah. If you wouldn't mind, I'd be happy to learn. [ Beat. ] Wait ... So does this mean the lie was that you were almost married?

[winces]

And I'd be happy to teach you!

[ families didn't work for olivia like it might for most others. in her troupe, everyone is her family, regardless of blood relation. everyone was someone's mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, and so forth. what tied their bonds together were the feelings shared between them, sometimes manifesting into more tangible things.

No, I'm afraid that's wrong, too!

[ it's less of a happy truth, but she's still elated from rey's acceptance of her offer that it doesn't instantly affect her. ]

Oh no! [ She looks genuinely appalled for a moment, but bursts into laughter afterwards because she realizes— ] Does that mean I've lost?

[winces]

[ she can't help but giggle in turn. WINNING FEELS GOOD, MAN. ]

I'm afraid so! You played very well, though, don't worry!

Since you were a performer, I only guessed that one must be true ... Is the lie that your king isn't really mad? I hope that's the case.

[winces]

Yes and no! My world had a mad king, but I've never sung for him.

[forcevisions]

So who did you sing for?

[winces]

Oh, I've sung for other kings! Though they were not always called kings... The ruler of Ylisse, for example, is called an Exalt!

[forcevisions]

Ylisse. [ She says it again as though she's practicing saying it. Which is a good sign, really, since in order for that to matter, she'd need to think of Olivia as her friend. ] Is that where you come from?

[winces]

[ clutches heart ]

Oh... I suppose I do sort of live there now. [ three whole years, in fact. it's a strange thing to think about. ]

But before that, I had been with Kahn Basilio in West Ferox. And before that, I'd been traveling with my troupe...

[ but enough about her?? tbh ]

Where are you from?

[forcevisions]

Jakku. It's ... You probably wouldn't like to visit it. Not much happens there; it's all desert and scrap.

[winces]

[ her expression softens a bit. but her voice is tentative. ]

...it's where you're from, isn't it? I think that would be reason enough.

[forcevisions]

It's where I lived most of my life, it's true, but ... [ She shakes her head. Sometimes, in certain ways, she'll miss it. But for the most part ... ] The best parts of my life happened away from it. If I ever got the chance to show you my universe, I wouldn't want you to spend any time on Jakku. There's so much more to it.

[winces]

[ chinhands ]

Will you tell me about it?

[forcevisions]

[ Slowly, she nods. ]

The first other planet I remember seeing is Takodana. It was ... [ She sighs, almost wistful. ] It was all green, a lot like this one, but I don't think the plants were quite so vicious. In the middle of all the forest there was a great lake—with clear, calm water that made the surface look like glass. [ It was, if her tone is anything to go by, wondrous. ]

There's a castle there—at least, there was—where smugglers and other unwanted, forgotten people from all over the galaxy gather to drink and gamble. And out front, there was a huge statue of the woman who owned it, Maz Kanata. They all seemed to respect her enough not to cause problems there.

[winces]

Ohh, what a lovely place! I've never been to another planet before... the farthest I've ever traveled were to other continents.

[ but — hang on ]

What happened to the castle...?

[forcevisions]

I don't know. The First Order attacked the planet, and I haven't seen it since.

[ She feels a pang of guilt. The First Order came there chasing her. She hoped Maz made it off-planet alright. ]

The people they were looking for were in it.

[winces]

Oh... [ what a sobering thought. olivia looks immediately guilty for even bringing it up. ]

I'm glad you made it out alright, though...!

[forcevisions]

Yeah. [ She nods, firm and hopeful. ] And once I find Finn, I'll know if the others did too. He stayed on the planet with them longer than I did.

[winces]

Is Finn a friend of yours...? Do you know if he's here?

[forcevisions]

He was. Someone told me he had been in Oska, but got reassigned. [ It didn't matter how unreliable the source was because it was precisely what she needed to hear. Finn was alive. He was okay. He was here, in this universe, with them. ] But I'll find him. [ There was a blind faith in the way she said it; naive, taken for granted, a feeling rather than a fact. ]

[winces]

[ perhaps it would have been kinder, not to let rey get her hopes up so much. after all, the nature of reassignments within alastair is a tricky one, and it isn't often easy to tell when, if at all, anyone is going to return...

but it isn't really in olivia's nature to ruin such an optimism.

so instead she smiles, nodding. ]

Well — now you've got another friend to help you do that. Two sets of eyes should be better than just one, right?

[forcevisions]

[ The surprise Rey wears is that of someone who would have never expected a near-stranger to go to such lengths for her, even one she would hope to call a friend. She's not used to favors and assistance. So she's a little awed still when she does finally find words; ] You're right. Thank you.

[winces]

[ if olivia had had any doubt about making such an offer before, she is certainly void of them now.

there is no faking that kind of gratefulness and surprise. ]

Of course!

[ a pause, and then in a playful tone: ]

But you know that means you'll have to tell me all about him~

[forcevisions]

Right.

[ Straight to the point, Rey seems to miss the teasing entirely. ]

He's about as tall as I am, dark skin, short hair. Good shot.
