Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

Shepherds...

I take it they're a different sort than Sorey?

I don't think I've met them yet...! But the Shepherds were what Lord Chrom had called his group of fighters... They were separate from Ylisse's actual army, and because of that, were able to do much more outside of, um. Politics.

Oh, I see. The way Sorey described what he does...he's sort of like a superhero.

[So. Definitely different, but both doing positive things for their worlds]

But there's just the one Shepherd where he's from.

[ blinks ]

What is a superhero?

[Ah- their cultural differences rear up in the strangest of places]

Usually someone with superhuman abilities or unique innovations to combat evil and protect people. Where I come from, they only exist in popular media... Though there are certainly people who can simply be called heroes.

Oh gosh — that sounds like a good number of the recruits here, don't you think??

Yes, that's true. And a few with really famous stories, like Achilles and Arjuna.

Mr. Arjuna is famous too?!

His story's pretty famous in my world. At first, I thought he was named after the protagonist of that story, but...it turns out it's actually him.

[And after hearing about Achilles, that was easier for him to process than it might be otherwise]

[ gosh all these famous heroes around her... and she had no idea!! ;; ]

Will you tell me his story?

I can, if you would like... Though I'm not sure how accurate the translation I read was. Its original language wasn't either of the ones I speak...

Once we both know it, we can always ask him whether it sounds right.

[ of course, she's just thinking about it from their perspective. she rather thinks if she were in arjuna's shoes, it would certainly be nice to hear others have heard about your wonderful deeds... ]

Although he's got a very good poker-face, he did express that he was glad to have a legacy like that.

[Merit and memorability were two things that heroes seemed to value, from Haise's brief experience with them. There's surely something to being recalled, and to people knowing all you'd done, when it had been so much]

So I'm sure he'd be happy to know his associates are interested in his story.

Oh gosh... I'll keep that in mind, then. He was so very kind when I'd met him — it seems only right to let him know how highly I think of him. And others, too!

I'm sure he'll appreciate your consideration. And hey, we could always make him lunch or something, for his time.

[He remembers way back on his first day, he landed in Olivia's fire pit.

Oh! Do you think he'd like that? [ most people do appreciate a good home-cooked meal, of course, but now that arjuna's on ~hero~ status in olivia's mind, she's starting to think of him as an exception to things. what if heroes like him didn't eat?! ]

We could each make him something from our worlds... provided he isn't allergic to anything...

I'm sure if we asked, he'd let us know if there's anything he can't eat.

[Given Arjuna's cultural background, he can think of a couple of possibilities already, but better to ask than assume]

It'd be fun exploring different cuisines, since our homes are so diverse.

Haise does not have one. Having associates who know exactly what he is, he hasn't had to feign enjoyment of human food very often. Of course this only becomes worse when he realizes it's been a bit too long, and that's going to seem weird. Um]

Ah it's...tough to single something out. [It really and truly is] Maybe agedashi tofu?

[It's about the mildest thing he can think of, probably akin to eating styrofoam in terms of taste. The sauce is salty and the scallions acrid but if he were to pick something he could stomach (briefly), it's that or hiyayakko, which...well. Isn't dissimilar but for texture and temperature]

But I'm sure that's foreign to a lot of people here.

I don't think I've ever heard of it...! You'll have to tell me how it's made, so that I can make it perfectly for you. It sounds delicious, though.

[ there's no getting out of it now, of course. as excited as she is to do all this, she completely misreads his hesitation there as simply more of his modesty and humbleness. she won't let him go on feeling unappreciated, though! she has even more to thank him for, after all. ]

That's really kind of you...but are you sure it wouldn't be too much trouble?

[He's more concerned for Olivia than for the fate of his stomach, right about now. As he'd surmised, the dish is foreign to her... And it lends to the impression that he and Shizuo might in fact be unusual cases around here.

I think you might like it, I've read it's reasonably well-received in restaurants overseas.
