VIDEO. UN: LOKI
[ the sound of the wind storm hollows dully against the cave walls. Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]
Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]
Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.
Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.
NOTE | Feel free to threadjack if that's your thing!! :****

i'm here when you least expect me...!!
[Also like...16 but you know.]

Sounds to me like that hasn't done much good for his sense of taste, then. Did he have to give up milk to be one of those, or something?
no subject
[Nothing like signing away your soul to a corrupt organization, amirite.]
I believe he hates the taste.
no subject
Well, that's a loss for him, either way. His bones aren't going to turn out very well if he avoids it like that. [Like how do you think he healed up those fifty plus bones up there?? The power of milk, that's what. And so, this is intoned almost sagely...before said sageness promptly vanishes again.] 'Alchemist'...a government position, huh? Don't think I've ever heard of it before. But it sort of sounds like science. ...Like chemistry or something?
no subject
She doesn't mention the fact that he's got decidedly fewer bones in his body to benefit from the good nutrition present in milk, electing instead to pick up on this new lead in the conversation.]
Most people who've never seen alchemy before consider it akin to magic but yes, it's a type of advanced science.
no subject
The fact that the person in question is already missing two limbs does kind of put a damper on the bone health front, that said...though really, that just means he should reinforce his remaining bones with plenty of milk anyway!! But yes, that's neither here nor there, and probably for the better. Shizuo blinks slowly as this new topic sinks in.]
Ah, okay. So he's a pretty smart guy, then...well, apart from the milk thing. [He is still not letting this go sorry...anyway--] Hah, 'technology is magic' and that sort of saying, right? But yeah, that's a new term to me. Might even be around in my world, but I wouldn't know...I'm not a very scientific sort of person. What's alchemy do?
no subject
[Smart 1% of the time and then just reckless and hotheaded the remaining 99% of the time. (Though she supposes that holds true for most adults as well...) For all that the descriptor doesn't sound very positive though, there's affection in her voice.
But! Moving on.]
Alchemy can do a number of different things, depending on what your aim is. It can reshape organic material into something else, heal wounds and injuries, completely decimate a building....all in a matter of seconds.
no subject
And Riza does sound rather affectionate there, so Shizuo opts not to accidentally burst that somehow. Instead:]
Wow, that fast? Definitely must not be a thing in my world, then...haven't seen anything like it yet, at least. [No wonder some people think it's magic, actually? Huh.] Hey, can you do any?
no subject
But sadly for Shizuo, there'll be no alchemy demonstrations today, Riza shaking her head at the question.]
I can't. My father was an alchemist and I tried to learn when I was a child, but it wasn't something I was naturally gifted at.
no subject
But ah well, asking for a demonstration might have been sort of presumptuous anyway. Not that it matters in the end, apparently.]
Oh, okay. So it's something you sort of need a knack for...like art or something, right? [Shizuo no that's...not really the same......whatever--] Well, if everybody could do it I guess it wouldn't be as big of a deal as it sounds either. There's plenty other things to be good at too, anyway.
no subject
It's not all that it's cut out to be. Unless you're sponsored by the state, it can be hard to make a living.
no subject
Huh, even if it's really handy like that? So I guess if it's something you want to do, getting a state sponsoring or whatever is about the only option...guess that makes sense.
no subject
[ANYWAY. No one cares about the military, let's move on.]
Did you really break 50 bones all at once?
no subject
But politics have always been a bit over Shizuo's head anyway, and the conversation's veering dangerously close to that particular topic. So Riza's abrupt switch is a good one--even if the question she actually asks happens to be a mildly awkward one.
Everybody's asking this....and Shizuo's starting to wonder if maybe he ought not to have mentioned that incident at all now. It'd sounded a lot less alarming in his head at the time??]
Well, more or less? I mean, it might have been more, but I can't really remember the exact number...just that it was around that much. [A small shrug.] But it was all at once, yeah. I got into a fight when I was a kid and tried to pick up something way too heavy for me.
no subject
Were you stronger than everyone else, even as a child?
[She's trying to imagine him as a child now. It's not working very well.]
no subject
--Yeah, guess it was pretty up there even back then. Not as much as I am now, but...way beyond everybody else my age then too, probably. [If one wants to get pedantic about it, anyway...
Still, as unaffected as he remains while he recounts all this, there's still a very faint air of something close to resignation in his tone now. Or at least, the sound of somebody that's trodden over this sort of topic many, many times in the past.] My body took a little while to actually catch up, though, so there was a bit of time where I was breaking things all the time. Everything would keep pissing me off...
[Really, he was an entirely normal-looking child otherwise. His childhood chill, however, was not...great....]
no subject
You seem to have grown out of that for the most part.
[Is that appreciation in her voice? Admiration or approval? Hard to tell. She's never been one to let her emotions flow too freely. It doesn't get a particularly long lifespan regardless as Riza readily moves on - back to the original topic at hand, actually.]
I never did guess which one was the lie out of all of those though.
[Be a friend and tell her, please.]
no subject
Which is a fact that Shizuo's pretty aware of, quite suddenly, when Riza makes that particular remark. He's visibly a little startled upon receiving it, pausing and blinking at the feed a couple of times as if genuinely very briefly at a loss.]
--You think so? Ah... [Well, he supposes she might, actually. He almost forgets where he is, sometimes. There's nobody here from Ikebukuro and its wellspring of local gossip--nobody here has ever heard of Ikebukuro's Strongest Man. Though that hasn't really sunk in until this particular moment, now, and Shizuo can't decide if it's refreshing or off-putting. So in the end, he can only press through that thought with a small shrug for now.] Well, I've been trying to work on it. I still have a long way to go, honestly, so...
[The switch in topic comes as a relief, and as that particular admission begins to meander Shizuo immediately latches onto the alternative.]
Oh, right. It was the hating milk thing, that's definitely a lie. Hey, you made a good try though...better luck next time and all that, huh? [Good friends offer loser condolences like this, right...he's trying his best here ok....]
