VIDEO. UN: LOKI

[ the sound of the wind storm hollows dully against the cave walls. Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]

Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

NOTE | Feel free to threadjack if that's your thing!! :****

[The most unamused look.]

People come up with hypothetical situations all the time. Even if I did have examples doesn't mean it's actually true.

[Okay, now he's just going back and trampling his own point GOOD GOING KEATS]

Sometimes things like that can be disproved by science, you know, it doesn't have to be waved off as some kind of vague explanation and-

Look! L-look, I didn't mean it that way, I'm still speaking in hypotheticals, I in no way have any sort of concrete example, it was just a slip of the tongue!

How do you even know it's the wrong answer? You're not me and you're not some kind of mind reader, that's for sure.

I didn't mean what I said. I-I wasn't thinking. Don't count this as some kind of victory.

[Please count this as some kind of victory.]

Besides, the only thing I have remotely close to an example was just a really bizarre scenario all around, so I don't think it counts.

[Reluctantly:] Something to do with twin trees that stand in the core of the afterlife that allow a connection between the souls of the living and the dead.

[A part of him wishes he were making that up.]

Trees are present as important symbols in many mythologies. I mean, look at Norse mythology, which you should know very well. Yggdrasil, the giant tree, connecting nine worlds at once...

[A pause.] The ones I knew of weren't quite as powerful, but still, they apparently had a great effect on the living world. A woman I know wounded one of them millennia ago, which altered the direction of the human race drastically.

How poetic of you. [He says, a usual dismissive response, but there's something in his expression that's a tad more interested in what Loki is saying.] Well, I can't say I don't appreciate the way people see the world in such creative ways. But to ignore pure science and logic is simply what an idiot would do.

[Keats: being adamant about his stubborn views since god knows when.]

Your idea of "reality warping" means fundamentally changing the laws of the universe, and there's no person who exists who can do a thing like that.

I think there is. The past was based on myths because people did not have the raw science to explain everything as something other than the works of gods and spirits and magic. But the more we learned, the more we applied it to our understanding of the world. There will soon come a time when every aspect of the world around us will be brought forth and logically explained through use of formulas and facts, not tales and folklore.

[He laughs.] I'm no scientist, no, but I assure you, there are fundamental rules that cannot be broken. Gravity for example, or the nature of atoms. There's no room for magic there.
