VIDEO. UN: LOKI

[ the sound of the wind storm hollows dully against the cave walls. Loki's squidge, Bacon, can half be seen crawling in the confines of his tacky green jacket and over his knee from where he sits, sometimes ducking and squeaking when a particularly large gust hits. to keep it from screaming, Loki offers his fingers absently, which the little squidge pulls on with its pudgy arms before ducking low again. ]

Hello there, it seems like we'll be waiting this out for some time considering the weather-type circumstances. While we're all rotting away, etcetera etcetera, I thought we could amuse ourselves with a game. A little bit of team bonding funtimes, so to say. [ he twists a dark nailed hand in the air, gesturing. ]

Soo—oo ... it's called Two Truths and a Lie. How do you play? Glad you asked, it's simple! Give two true statements about yourself and add a lie to the mix, shake it up then toss it out there and see if your team members know you well enough to spot the lie.

Usually this is done with copious amounts of alcohol, but we're lacking at the moment. [ pause. ] But—ah—you could always enjoy the satisfaction of being right. It's not like we're doing much else.

NOTE | Feel free to threadjack if that's your thing!! :****

Urahara Kisuke, at your service. From Karakura Town, Japan. It's a pleasure to meet you, Achilles-san.

[if he hammed it up anymore, it'd look like Christmas dinner around here.]

So you hail from a land of which I've not heard, and bear a name which is strange upon my tongue, Urahara - such is the way of this crew made from so many far-flung nations. Indeed I too am pleased to make your acquaintance.

Still, I do not yet know you so well, and thus I should find it to my liking to test my wit against your statements. In guessing which might be true and which is false, I shall learn something of you who know so well my deeds.

[Urahara laughs delightedly] Well, it wouldn't be fair of me to decline!

[and with that he snaps his fan open... maybe to give even more of an allure of mystery or maybe because he's just that much of a dramatic dork. either way, he's having fun, and if that's not telling, I don't know what is.]

The cane I carry has a blade hidden inside of it. I've been married before. I once trusted a madman enough to have him work for me.

[it's getting very hard to keep his lies and his truths simple, while not showing that he's deflecting in any way, and yet he's still finding some strange delight in it. he's outside any place where most of this matters and he still wants to push and see how much he can keep to himself and how much will be worth revealing.]

The third admission seems to me preposterous, but perhaps this is the trap by which you hope to ensnare me. So too with the second - but where before I might assume it the lie, this I might too readily assume the truth, as I should think most men of your age have taken a bride. The first, however, gives me no inclination one way or the other - it could well be true as easily as it could be false.

Thus I shall guess that the second is the lie, for it seems too ordinary a claim.

Ah-ha. [deliberately dramatic, but no less jovial for it] You saw through all my tricks. You're a clever man, indeed, Achilles-san.

It would seem that in this game of wits we are evenly matched. Yet this means then that you did indeed trust a madman as you would your comrade, and so I must question your judgment. What great desperation could have driven you to act thus?

[his voice drops an octave, though his words retain a certain casual lilt to them.] I respected his intelligence, and I knew I could keep him in check, because he wouldn't dare betray me.

It's all right to question my judgment. I'm sure many have, but I still stand by that decision.

I suppose it is unfair of me to cast judgment upon a man I know not and whose circumstances I know less. Why, even though Telephus, son of Heracles, was driven mad by his wound which would not heal after my spear drank of his blood, still did I respect him and so I performed the surgery which healed his ails.

You performed surgery on your enemy? My, my that's very honorable of you. I can imagine most would have been concerned that such graciousness would be asking to be taken advantage of.

Although we met one against the other in battle the king of Mysia is not truly my enemy, for I have no quarrel with him. He simply wished that the accursed pain which gripped his leg might be assuaged, and in return for this mercy paid unto him he guided our well-benched ships to Troy.

[he has definitely heard how that story went.] Now that really does sound like a life full of adventure. If only Yoruichi-san were here, she'd be so thrilled so hear of them all.

[She was always the thrillseeker.]
