VOICE | UN: GREENCYBORG
I cannot-- [ Let's start again. ]
For those who do not know... I am Genji.
There is rarely a time that I feel I should apologize for my entire existence, but the amount of embarrassment that I feel upon having to relive the memories of my younger... more impertinent self... calls for it.

voice ; un: navigator
[ The voice is undeniably familiar, older though it sounds, and she imagines Genji will feel the same -- her voice sounds much the same, even though the voice-response doesn't translate her longer hair, the changes in her appearance.
Something hasn't changed, though... ]
Hm, does this mean no more pretty words? A shame, they were kind of cute! [ She's teasing him, 1000% teasing him. Poor guy... but let's be real here he kind of deserves it. ]
voice; un: greencyborg
[ His voice sounds like it is going through an autotuner, more mechanical and robotic. But he lets out a sigh that is undeniably human. ]
Kind of cute, again. [ He laughs a little. At least, the laugh sounds almost the same. ] Well, I could think of some, if you are truly missing awful lines from flirty boys.
voice > video
[ She makes the mental switch from voice to video, and so the jewelry carrying the message shows Genji the image of her, standing on a wooden deck undeniably like those leading to the hot springs. ]
Ah, please don't! I think I'll like you better without. I've had enough of awful lines for a lifetime! Besides... you wouldn't buy me a free meal now, even if I listened to any of those lines, so what would be the point? [ She laughs, too, and winks at him in the same way she did, before, except this time there's far more self-awareness... and she's being actually honest. ]
video
You're right. I wouldn't buy you a free meal because you listened to them. But I would buy you one because I hope to become your friend. [ A slight tilt of his head, indicating some embarrassment still. ] We're teammates and will get along with each other. I like that idea, but I also like the idea of being friends, too, and hope you are in favor of the idea as well.

Two years! Our crew was separated for that time, and I was on a sky island with a bunch of old weather scientists... no one really knew how to give a good hair cut, so I didn't cut it at all!
[ Not that she sounds too upset about it... the obvious follow-up would be to comment on his appearance, and yet, what she says is a comment in a less obvious way. ] You know, one of our crew is a cyborg, too. Franky... he'd love to meet you, I'm sure.
[ And if that isn't enough to answer his question... ] I'd like to be friends, too! ... but I'll still accept that drink, if you want to convince me.

[ Since it symbolizes their change, in a way... all of them look different, now, and it just reminds them all of what they went through to get here.
His question is less a surprise and more an inevitability, at this point; she laughs and nods. ] I see he's got to you too, then? But that's right! I'm the crew's navigator.
no subject
[ So, he was right! ]
Well, I know of the good captain, but I've not been asked to join. [ Oh really? ] A navigator, huh? Makes you quite invaluable to them, then.
no subject
Oh? Hm, it's probably just a matter of time! Don't worry, I can put in a good word for you if you'd like. [ She winks; not that she thinks he'd need it... honestly, why hasn't Luffy recruited him already? Might be because of Hanzo-kun, but she's not about to ask. ]
Of course! A navigator's job is the most important -- to make sure we go where our captain wants us to go, and that all of us reach the destination safely! There's nothing more unpredictable than the sea.
no subject
I'm already part of Overwatch. I do not think it yet right to leave them when I haven't even done much with them. [ a laugh. ]
Then that means that you've got a good sense and idea of how to keep us all safe? I feel safer already knowing more about you.
no subject
Who said anything about leaving? One of the members of our crew... she no longer travels with us, because her kingdom needs her more. But that doesn't mean she wouldn't still be our nakama! Among our allies, there are other pirate crews, a royal army, even a member of the Revolutionary Army. They're all loyal to their own causes, but we've still promised to help each other when it comes to it, too. Aren't you already a member of the Audentes, too? [ What a limited way of looking at the world -- doesn't he know it's possible to be a part of multiple things, to care about multiple causes? ]
You bet! Besides, no one knows more about the weather than I do. So if you ever need a warning about a tornado or to learn about the sea currents, you know who to ask! [ Honestly, her affinity to all things weather borders on the supernatural... ] But how about you, Genji? You're not being very fair, leaving the lady to ask questions by being so tight-lipped about yourself.
no subject
[ Huh! ] So you're saying that... well, that's a way of looking at things that I hadn't thought of before. But you're right. Even though I am part of Overwatch, I still think of myself part of those in Nepal... those monks that kindly looked after me. There are more connections and promises in the world that we have than just the one and ... I forgot that until just now. Thank you. If your captain is willing, then, I would not mind to join that cause to my own promises.
[ A tilt of his head. ] About me? What is there to know that my appearance doesn't answer? [ Said with little bitterness but more as a joke. ]
no subject
[ A joke, a joke. What isn't one, though, is the way she listens carefully to what he's saying, the small smile that lights up when he agrees to the idea of joining their crew. ] That's alright, no need to thank me! I'm sure Luffy has no objections... I'll make sure to mention it to him, though. We're already friends, right? Besides, I could do with some sensible crew mates, here! [ Since all of those brought here with her are... not.... ]
Your appearance? Hmph, like I care about that! [ And she truly means it. It doesn't matter to her, whatever's happened to him -- if he wants to talk about it, he can, but that is the only time it'll matter to her... if it matters to him enough to speak of it. ] No, I wanted to ask... you mentioned the monks? And Overwatch, what is that, exactly?
no subject
[ He laughs, again, thinking that she's making a joke about sensible crew mates. ] I don't know how much sense I have. There are times when my master needs to rein me in.
[ The visor glows bright for a second. A look of surprise even though he cannot change his expression. ] ... oh, of course. The monks are those that became self-aware. They went to Nepal in order to meditate more on the meaning of life and quite peaceful. They would rather have the world change by example than through action. But they're exceptionally kind and warm people... they welcome anyone who comes to visit with the same kindness as you would expect. For those that are wary... they're the ones that can ease all pains.
As for Overwatch, it's... well, we're... [ Ahem. ] ... illegal actions as of right now. We were a global unit that had no government to answer to but ourselves... more or less... we would go and fight where no one else could and win. It was to help to balance out the chaos of the world... the evil of the world... but people thought we became corrupt. That is why we're now an illegal organization... [ Nervous laugh. ] But that doesn't mean we're not going to keep fighting to make things right.
no subject
Changing the world through example... hm, that sounds like an ambitious goal! [ An impossible one, she thinks, because action is what brings about change, in the end-- but it's a noble goal all the same, and maybe the world Genji lives in is different enough from hers that the kind of change brought about by simple peace and kindness is possible.
When he explains about Overwatch, though, it makes her laugh. ]
You're not worried I would judge, are you? You forget pirates aren't exactly on the right side of the law, either! It doesn't matter if your actions are illegal... as long as they're what you feel are right!
no subject
[ A brief pause before he shakes his head. ] No. I don't mind if I'm the one that is judged. I would rather you not judge Overwatch itself. I feel that it has been judged poorly by so many... even if there are others that understand its true purpose. It's what I would like to protect along with the monks.
And ... I hope to feel this way toward the good captain's crew, too.
