There is rarely a time that I feel I should apologize for my entire existence, but the amount of embarrassment that I feel upon having to relive the memories of my younger... more impertinent self... calls for it.

[How odd it feels, to know that he's inspired laughter in his brother, but there is something relieving in it. Hanzo lets the scarf slip from his fingers into Genji's hand.

Then a frown sinks in when Genji makes the realization; Hanzo turns his head away sharply.]

There is nothing that can be done about it.

No.

[ That much the two of them can agree upon. ]

But some small good did come of it. [ He wraps the scarf around his shoulders -- he also got back something that he lost. ] I just wish that ... you would stop being punished for that one mistake. By time, by yourself. You've stopped it a little, haven't you?

[ A beat as he attempts to curve the topic a little at the end, as he realizes that he may be getting close to starting a fight. ] Well, how does it look?

I have performed several mistakes. That, however, was the worst I could have committed.

[He tenses, taking in a deep breath. A little, maybe, but after what happened, it felt like he dropped back down to square one for awhile there.

He had help, to crawl back out. That was... something. But it'd still been difficult.]

...Suitable. Not very incognito, but you were never concerned with that.

[backthatup]

I never was, no.

[ Now, a little more so, but for different reasons. ]

... you do not seem as upset as I would have thought. [ It's honestly a relief to see. He smiles beneath his mask. ] I'm happy to know that you've learned to forgive yourself, too.

[whatshimadayou]

[There's a frown on his face, as if he lacks certainty -- or almost looks uncomfortable.]

It is not entirely that. [Frankly, Hanzo doesn't know that he will ever forgive himself.]

...I had help.

[ A beat. ]

McCree?

[backthatup]

[ Oh, he should not have jumped to that idea first. ]

I know that you two are friends and so that is who I thought of first... as he always seems to want to be able to help you. But perhaps it was Tracer... or someone else. [ Very smooth. ]

[whatshimadayou]

[The immediate suggestion makes Hanzo jerk his head back, then he scowls further when Genji tries to recover.]

He told you.

[Which... fine, it is not as if he had Jesse swear to secrecy. He is free to inform whomever he wishes, but his brother, of all people.]

[backthatup]

[ He can be happy that the faceplate hides his expression, but his brother is his brother. Even if he's hiding his face, there are tells to show just how he must be looking -- the slight tilt of his head and the weak sigh that follows 'he told you.' ]

Yes. I am sorry. It was not my intention to say anything.

[There are several thoughts that go through his mind, and all the while Hanzo keeps his scowl. Eventually, he sighs and folds his arms, glancing away.]

...You do not seem to mind that I am involved with a teammate of yours.

It's someone that has helped you through something I could not, and someone that you trust in.

[ There is a softer, happier smile. ]

There is nothing for me to mind.

[Gradually, Hanzo's face softens from a frown, now to to something more uncertain as he considers. Yes, he does trust McCree; Jesse has been good, patient, and understanding. Stubbornly at Hanzo's side while also respecting his privacy.

Yet, it's still a difficult matter.]

Perhaps it is not unlike how you trust your master. [He says, without any real idea of how true that might be.] ...When I attempted to force you to change, especially after Father passed on, I was not your brother then. I was attempting to be something else.

To change, perhaps we cannot be anything more than that. [Siblings.]

[ He looks away at the comment about Zenyatta. That is hitting a little too close to home but he doesn't think that McCree would have mentioned something like that to Hanzo.

And that concern falls to the wayside when he hears the rest of what his brother has to say. ] You did not think that you needed to be my brother. I do not say that to drive the knife in but saying that we both did what we thought was right.

But I believe you are right. We can just be as we are... as we should have been. For I, too, should have been a better brother to you.

[The way Genji glances away does make him pause to consider. Hanzo frowns to himself, debates how much to read into it.

Maybe it's nothing. Maybe he's just said too much.]

I had thought, once, it was the best action. [To keep himself from thinking too much, too fondly of his sibling. To do what was necessary for both of them.] But yes. ...We did.

Perhaps less time in the arcade. [It is spoken wryly, but he doesn't find it in himself to ever begrudge Genji. He was many things, but only one of them tried to kill the other, after all.]

I will... try.

And I thought once it was better to leave you to fend for yourself among the Elders. [ Because to him, Hanzo was someone who would not let the expectations of others down. But that wasn't the dream that Genji had for himself -- and as much as he thought well of his brother, he also thought that, well, he should have been there more for him. Even if it was not something that he wanted, even if he did not desire an empire, he should have not allowed Hanzo to feel so alone at the top. ]

But less time at the arcade... I can agree with that. So much wasted time. [ A soft laugh. ] I will try, too. [ And try not to get mad so quickly when things go south in their conversations. ]

[There is a moment of conflict in him, and he frowns, prepared to argue that he could handle himself -- but too quickly, he knows that to not be true, clearly as a result of what had occurred between them. So, Hanzo says nothing, instead breathing in deeply and closing his eyes. Is that what Genji had thought? He had no reason to be wrong; Hanzo always held himself as an unmoving mountain.

Yet, the Elders did influence him. Place your faith in family, he remembers Father saying.]

Well, that is something we can agree on. [Less time at the arcade indeed.]
