It wasn't a great idea for you to get grabbed by an interdimensional anomaly either. Or bringing in another one of us. And yet here we are, aren't we?

You made this bed, so we might as well lie in it. No sense hiding anything at this point considering we're already far more involved than Recorders ought to be. And you even got damaged! Honestly, do you want to end up broken?

[Accord waves the other person off before readjusing the jewelry to show that she was, in fact, talking to... Accord? Only that one is clearly the one people know because she has a bandage on her cheek. She looks contrite.]

*ahem* I do hope my compatriot hasn't caused anybody too much trouble. Normally we have a strict non-interference policy in our work, but I suppose that's too much to ask for in this situation. *sigh* Anyway, I have been informed of the situation, and since this dovetails with our work, I suppose for now we will be more proactive. Although I really don't approve of such direct influence.

[The other Accord pulls her eye down and sticks her tongue out.]

"Androids," more precisely. Of the Accord line. Normally we would keep this information to ourselves, but the circumstances right now make this extremely difficult.

[The frontmost Accord tries to maintain an air of professionalism at this, although something does pass across her eyes at the comment, and she shoots a glance back at the other Accord, who shrugs and mouths, "We'll talk about it later."]

We document the course of timelines, with specific focus on particular events and individuals. We maintain specific interest in branching timelines, and situations which may potentially post a threat to outside dimensions.

In theory, we are not intended to interfere... although I do suppose the one instance one of us did so did end as well as could be expected.

[She shakes her head.]

At any rate, the work ALASTAIR intends for us seems a lot more direct.

We can, although when I say we usually work separately, I mean, "we work in separate timelines."

There's about ten who are currently monitoring our primary dimension's temporal branches, but I am not currently certain how many we have in the other primary dimension. I admit I have not been keeping track much of our other stations of late.

Normally, yes. However, something about the nature of our current situation has resulted in a complete severance of our communications. Which is rather irritating.

[A beat; she can't see it, but A2 is currently coopting the jewelry from A1.]

I'm just fortunate ALASTAIR allowed me to send the data I'd accumulated already back so that another one of us could take over primary recording duties for a while. That dimension is VERY important to keep track of!

[Some more unseen wrestling.]

Anyway, it's exceedingly inconvenient.

Being a "replica" would generally require there to have been an original in the first place. Although to be fair, we are uncertain if this is the case. If you mean a replica of humans in general, though, then yes. Our original Earth made quite a number of them for various reasons.

As for recording, we generally aim to create records in both a digital and a handwritten format. This minimizes the risk of data loss either through damage to electronic transmissions or ruined paper.

It's by design, you know. It allows us to coordinate better while still allowing leeway in case one of our own is rendered defunct.

That's always been part of the design. It was necessary to have androids blend in during the... darker times.

[i.e. When the human race just about went extinct.]

Although why they continued to manufacture androids as distinctly human in appearance and thought later is hard to explain. Possibly sentiment.

So how many units of you are there? More than two, obviously. Hundreds? Are you mass produced as well? Are there different types of your kind, or are you made just to record things?
