[ Koltira sits in a comfortable albeit sparsely furnished room, on the edge of a neatly made bed. There's someone sitting with him, but only her hand--slim fingers clasped in his, gold bracelets on her wrist--is visible. He looks to her for a second, his expression briefly unsure, and his long ears twitch at her inaudible (but presumably encouraging) reply.

He clears his throat. ]

Some of you already know this, but I'm told it would be best if I shared the information broadly.

[ He has doubts, but what Olivia wants, Olivia gets.

Koltira raises his free hand. Purplish-black shadows engulf it, shimmering darkly, writhing around his palm. He repeats what he has said to Sieglinde, to Princess Sonia. ]

Those who stand with me do not fall. If you perish in battle--against these slugs or otherwise--I can restore you to life.

[ He makes a fist, and the shadows dissipate. ]

It is a true resurrection, but there are caveats. Firstly, I must reach you quickly. Preferably within a day's time. Second, the process is unpleasant. You will suffer pain, and you will be sick. Likely for almost a week afterwards. Third, it is not guaranteed. Occasionally the Light decrees that our time has come, and the spirit cannot be reunited with the body.

[ Koltira shifts on the bed. The thick duvet is cream-colored, red-checked. Homey. He seems to be in the guest room of a farm house.

Olivia squeezes his hand. ]

This is not an invitation to be reckless. It is merely a safeguard against catastrophe.

[ He pauses, as though thinking about what else to add. His expression goes slightly sour. ]

Again, I stress: it is a true resurrection. You will not be as I am. You will be whole, and you will be hale, once you recover from the trauma of the process.

[ He has the ability to bring them back as undead, of course. He could make them as he is, he could turn them to ghouls. But he wouldn't. Not ever. ]

Still. Try to stay alive.

[cripes]

I'm afraid I can't help you much there. I've never been particularly religious.

[god is dead, love is over, etc.]
predomination: HEY EVERYONE HER BANKAI IS A ROCKET LAUNCHER. (⚛ you're as subtle as soifon's bankai)

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-01 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's less a religious concern and more a "fabric of the universe" concern.. But that might not apply here. It never hurts to be cautious, however.

[Ugh, don't make it sound so depressing.]

This isn't something that the laws of nature allow to happen, where I come from. I hope this doesn't disrupt anything elsewhere but....it's hard to say.

Though I truly hope no one is reckless enough to through their life away in light of this.
predomination: oh whoops. i wear sandals. my bad. (⚛ could you wait until i tie my shoes)

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-01 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
There's no precedent for it where I'm from either, which is where my concern lies. I've seen the balance between the living and the dead disrupted before. It never leads to anything good.

[more cheerfully] BUT we can't cast Koltira-san's offer aside after he was kind enough to share it with us. We just have to be cautious and hope our team is smarter than that.

[with some exasperation, though it's thankfully masked by text:]

I can't say I trust everyone on this team to be capable of such forward thinking.
predomination: just throw a sheet over it and run tessai. (⚛ no it looks fine. totally fine.)

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-01 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't say that. If they hear you talking like that, they'll be reckless out of spite.

[he's only like... half joking.]
strictdiscipline: (024)

[personal profile] strictdiscipline 2016-12-01 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Then they'll be proving my point, won't they?
predomination: (yes i am) (⚛ i'm not laughing at you)

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-01 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
They're going to give Koltira-san gray hairs... Or they would if his hair wasn't already white.

[Ha ha. Very funny.]

With any luck from the rest of us, they won't.

[But! She's more interested in something else he's mentioned already.]

You mentioned that disrupting the balance between living and dead never lead to anything good where you came from. What types of consequences usually occurred?
predomination: or i could stay here and think about science (⚛ i mean we could do that)

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-01 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, admittedly, it was stopped before anything actually happened, but the mere act of preventing it was unfortunate.

[casual quincy near-genocide, you know.] But essentially if souls aren't allowed to pass as normal into the afterlife to be reborn and continue the cycle, there can be an imbalance, and that can cause both worlds to collapse. That only applies to where I'm from. There's no telling if it's true everywhere.

But it's something worth dotting my I's and crossing my T's over.
strictdiscipline: (007)

ah dw why won't you send me my notifs, gently shakes fist at maintenance

[personal profile] strictdiscipline 2016-12-01 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ah ofc, everything goes back to genocide.]

Tampering with death results in a different punishment where I'm from, but the act itself is no less dire.

But if I notice anything off, I'll be sure to let people know.

[But hopefully it doesn't come to that.]
predomination: they all just bloom together beautifully (⚛ FYI flowers don't compete)

because life is suffering and hates us

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-01 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Hopefully, it won't come to that. I haven't noticed anything that would suggest otherwise at least.

[in fact, he hasn't really felt much spiritual activity in any singular place- Oska, Zeta-12, or Perdition's Rest. Not a Plus to be seen. Or a Hollow, which is a mercy. But that would also mean there's no Soul Society equivalent. WHERE DO THE DEAD GO???]

[Spoilers: there are no dead.

But actually, that's relieving to hear, though she finds herself curious as to what sorts of things he's noticed (or hasn't noticed, as the case may be).]

Can you sense—spiritual disruption, or something along those lines?
predomination: i'll do it regardless of your gender. i don't care. you guys are dumb as fuck. (⚛ it's not mansplaining if i do it.)

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-02 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
[he really should have expected that question. well no helping that.] at least he has an easy out to avoid giving too much.

Spiritual anything, really. It's not uncommon where I'm from for people to feel out these sorts of things. Maybe not on that level, but I like to keep ahead of the game.

["Feel out", he says. Like they're all preparing for something.]

And what reason is there to feel out such things? Are you some sort of gatekeeper for the living and the dead?
predomination: it's full of secrets. (⚛ that's why my hat is so big)

[personal profile] predomination 2016-12-02 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[hah. Hah.]

Some spirits don't cross over peacefully and become monsters. It's good to know where those threats might come from if you can see them. You just can't be open to one side of the spiritual side of things without opening yourself to all of it. Unless you intentionally blind yourself.

[tapdances around the truth.]

[What a rather grotesque happenstance. She shudders a little at the thought. Obviously the rules of his world don't apply to her own, but it's still disturbing to think about.]

And you're tasked with taking care of those monsters? Or is that someone else's job?
predomination: time to kill hitsugaya and take his screentime. (⚛ guess i'm still supporting cast)

[That's enough to bring a ghost of a smile across her lips. It's a sentiment she can definitely respect.]

Then I hope you're able to do so soon, once you're allowed to return home from here.

[he'll never be able to fully retire. there will always be another Winter War, and one of the reasons why he's so dedicated to ALASTAIR's goal is because he's still repenting from the last one.]

I hope so too. But... for now, I suppose it's not so bad trying to keep up with ALASTAIR's agenda, aside from being kept in the dark more than I'd like.
