I wouldn't be surprised. If there is something we recognize as magic, there must be some underlying reason that it's able to function, or something that governs the way it operates. Considering the fact that ALASTAIR seems able to "give" us abilities, I have to imagine there's some mechanism behind it.

[Especially when those abilities aren't native to them. Maybe they're able to tap into some kind of energy or resource, or something along those lines... But it seems too simplistic to just think it's willpower focused into whatever they're doing and that's the end of it]

I'm part of a paramilitary organization. We work alongside local authorities, but our jurisdiction is focuses exclusively on a predatory species that preys on humans. Their diets are very limited, due to their biology.
