I am a firm believer of striking first and striking hard so the opponent has little room to counter, actually.
[ Isn't it a shame she doesn't have access to a tank here... ]
Though it depends, I have received many gifts, though not money. We usually receive a sum of money at the start of a mission to get by though as well.
