[ Oyez, oyez, oyez, you’ve got a call on your magical crystal. Pick up the phone and you’ll see Glee, looking serene, confident, and in her element in (1) organizing things and (2) telling people what to do. ]

It has been almost two months since we were conscripted by ALASTAIR, and we have yet to meet, introduce ourselves, and discuss what we’ve learned in person and in an orderly fashion. In light of recent… developments, increased cooperation will become a necessity to pool what we’ve learned and plan a deliberate way forward.

I expect all of you at the red warehouse between the commoner's district and the outskirts, six days from now at sundown. For those of you inclined to provoke tensions with local law enforcement, incarceration is not an excuse for tardiness or absence.

[ He's there in a few moments, materializing out of nothing and with barely a ripple. He'll take a moment to glace around his surroundings and unnecessarily straighten his sleeves, before turning to Dean. ]

Well? What did you wish to share?

[ having a guy just appear out of thin air should be commonplace enough for Dean — angels do it all the goddamn time — but it's still jarring as hell. he'll jump a little, and breathe out explosively in annoyance. ]

[ he'll compose himself soon enough, though. business is business.

he casually slips his hands into his pockets. ]

Tell me: what d'you know about demons?

[ Ahad quirks an eyebrow, but otherwise ignores Dean's reaction. The question about demons does give him pause, however. He'll give Dean his full attention, most likely indicating by his reaction that he's familiar with the word. ]

I know that they were supposed to be dead, killed by the Three to preserve their other children. Not that I don't doubt we speak of different demons.

[ Dean just stares at Ahad, that entire string of words about "Three" and "children" not making a lick of sense in his mind. Ahad's basically speaking another language entirely, as far as Dean's concerned. ]

Demons were the children of gods and mortals.

[ He'll shrug, noting Dean's confusion. ]

What? Hell no, those aren't demons — that's an entirely different category, but demon crap ain't it.

[ can't even wrap his mind around it. the hate is very real. ]

No, I'm talking about evil — the kind of evil that possesses people, makes 'em do horrible stuff? Bent on wiping out all of humanity? Apocalypse-style? That's what I'm talking about.

[ Ahad's somewhere between sighing in exasperation and rolling his eyes. He'll cross his arms, then continue. ]

I have no idea what you are talking about, but that is not a demon.

[ Dean makes a disgusted face— then thinks about it again.]

Well, where I come from, that's a demon and it's nothing but crap news.

[ because, like, it doesn't even occur to Dean that that sort of crap might not ... exist, in another world. ]

You don't call them anything. There was a situation where a demon...ah, I suppose you would say cannibalized godlings?

[ He'll shrug. ] It was a problem that did not last very long.

[ nope, disgusted face is back with a vengeance. ]

Augh, gross. I don't think I'm gonna want details about that, huh.

[ he raises an eyebrow, a muscle flexing along his jaw while he thinks for a moment. ]

Do these cannibal godlings of yours respond to, say, pentagrams and invocations, that sorta stuff?

Why would any of us do that? I don't respond to prayer, much less attempts to summon me.

[ He'll tilt his head to the side, considering. ] Invocations never work out well, especially when a godling does come. Demons are mortal and not often as aware of the world around them as a godling would be.

[ Dean frowns a little, thinking about this. ]

No, it's not like that. [ his mouth works for a moment, as he thinks about the proper way to explain this. ]

Demons— my demons — they don't give a crap about consent or anything. They just take what they want, everything and everyone be damned — so we resort to these, ah ... symbols. That we use to force 'em to stop.

Like this— [ he pulls the collar of his shirt down, revealing a pentagram tattooed on his chest ] see this? It keeps demons from possessing my ass, whether they want to or not. This kinda magic's the only means we got to kill 'em. Like, for good.

[ kill all demons, i stg. they are the absolute worst. ]

Demon magic. Or, you know, whatever.

[ Ahad will take a moment to process that, finally arriving at what he feels is the only conclusion that matters. ]

Demons seem to differ, from world to world. I would suggest that we hold our judgement of those called demons here, until we investigate further.

[ Dean's lip curls, distaste clear on his face but ... well, there is sense in what Ahad says, whether Dean likes it or not. it makes sense, that demons might maybe differ from world to world (and if that's the case, he'll just have to find appropriate names for them, won't he?)

but man, getting over that prejudice and his own ill-disposition is going to be such an uphill battle. he still says, grudgingly enough: ]

So I guess all we gotta do now is figure out how these creepy books of magic we found relate to this whole turning off the sun BS and to, you know, that list of people who've gone missing.

[ Ahad has fairly neutral opinions on demons himself. Just like any other being, demons had their own motivations and desires. For every Glee, there was another demon that didn't much care about preserving the universe, along with hundreds of others who wanted nothing more than to live their lives.

But he does make note to avoid telling Dean that Glee is one of those 'demons'. ]

That is what the meeting is for.

[ well, to be fair, Dean's opinion of demons in general might have a lot to do with the fact that they've basically, and quite literally, made his life hell. i mean, there has set a certain precedent for him.

though not telling him about Glee might be the wiser thing, for now. ]

I wonder if these demons are more like those from my world? Half of one thing, half of another?

[ Between two things seems like it could describe some of the issues that continue to come up. ]

Perhaps. It seems more likely than your sort of demon.

Would explain a lot more, yeah. That would also mean that they're just a group of extremists messing with magic they can't actually comprehend.

Somehow, I would not be surprised. I have too much experience with that.

[ It seems like every few years another extremist attempts to destroy everything. ]
