As we take a stroll through the maze and await the next hit single of its proprietor, I—or we, rather—would like to share a few words with you. Our Zymandis tag-a-long has spoken with us regarding some of our curiosities.

Unlike ALASTAIR, Zymandis has a fully functional chain of command, all the way from the higher ups to the underlings. Commanders and sub-commanders and the whole bit, going all the way to the tippy top under their leader … you know—Leader. [ he’s just gonna add that right in on there as a good rub. ] They recruit based on volunteers, and have seen their own share of those slipping through the cracks in the multiverse to end up where they are. It seems that this Mavahari is indebted to them through her rescue, and has pledged her life to follow their blah blah blah rebirth narrative blah blah blah.

Not only that, but they believe that the rebirth itself will prevent the next shatter of our dear multiverse. If the entropy is allowed to play out as is, the result will be much of what happens with Surtur gets his hands on something—burnt to a crisp.

Now, we’re not here to start another back-and-forth, however … we still do have the little detail of our Zymandis stowaway. She’s a political assassin, so I’d suggest not doing much to anger her. [ he’s looking at you Thor. ] For now at least.

A calling but no prophecy or some dumb book that told them this?

Their TIMELINE.exe calculated it. Why ours hasn't come to the same conclusion, I don't know.

Ours never received the destructive, worlds-stopping update. Good for us, I'd say.

If we... managed to hack into their Timeline machine and reverse the update...

Why reverse? Another update would suffice.

During the chaos in Oska, Zymandis tried to sneak in to the Mechanical Room and apply the update to Tim. Needless to say, it didn't work. It doesn't mean that our version of Tim isn't in need of an update, just ... a more ALASTAIR one.

If you know someone capable of coding for that thing, don't hold out.

Maybe not on our team. But there are a lot of people in ALASTAIR.

Good thing. Arbitrarily destroying space-time whatever on the whims of a machine doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Weeeell, we do whatever our machine says, too. Those in glass houses, blah blah.

Machine or not, I'd think that trying to save or stabilize or whatever is a better option than letting it all go to hell and hope it comes back.

I don't disagree with you. But sometimes people believe in things no matter how much of a bad idea it seems to everyone else.

I assume they just believe that this is the only way. Pretty simple motivation.

The real issue is if we can change their minds or not.

I wonder about that. People are pretty stubborn and once an idea sticks, it is hard to shake loose.

A program. Their's is just a teensy more destruction oriented than ALASTAIR's.

That's a bit of an oversimplification. Calculating the outcomes that provide the most energy always need someone to follow-up in some way, shape or form.

Though we could argue that mortals put far too much stake in numbers.
