It's Arthur's — you may have spoken to him, if you attended the Order meeting, but if you haven't, he still looks very familiar. He's been at the scene of nearly every shocking event, decidedly un-shocked. There's a reason for that.]

Hello. My name is Arthur, and I speak to you today representing the Order of the Chimera. I've tracked down one of your own who has graciously allowed me to contact you all.

You're likely aware that some of your people are being detained by the guard on charges of treason. This is due in no small part to the Order meeting they were present at. My people have been taken, too. I understand you may oppose the Order, but in this instance, I believe it would benefit us all to work together to free them.

[He pauses for a moment.]

If freeing your companions isn't motivation enough, my brother is in custody as well. Although I hear the guard has invented a barrier to absorb magic, I have no doubts he will eventually escape. However, the longer he is kept, the greater his retribution will become. [Gravely:] If you value the safety of the people of Chantes, or even your own, I suggest you join the cause.

There is little time. We infiltrate the prison tomorrow, regardless of the risks. I assure you the damage will be much greater should Michel grow even angrier.

[How fascinating. Sounds like the type of thing Edward would be interested in, if he were here. (A shame she doesn't have his breadth of knowledge - it could really come in handy right about now.)]

That could come in very handy then. [Some...how...?? Though that begs a second question:] Do you have any other weapons to protect yourself with?

[ Somehow! He isn't even very experienced in using the thing yet, but he'll think of something later. ]

No... Not really. I've only got a few other things in my backpack with me, but they're not really weapon-y.

What else do you have in your backpack? They might still be useful.

[Even if it's like....a mini LED flashlight.]

[ Oh my god, don't start that. ]

It's not much—My journal, the blacklight, some stuff to write with... [ He trails off, glancing off at said backpack sitting nearby him. In it sits the rift, too, downsized into something smaller than its usual size (which he still can't figure out how or why), but Dipper doesn't plan on being nearly as open about that. So, it goes unmentioned. ] That's about it.

We could always use a notetaker once all of this gets mapped out. [Ah, but—] Blacklight?

[Is that a light that's black on the outside..........]

[ A notetaker... Really? It doesn't sound very impressive at all in the grand scheme of things, but he'll try not to let that show. He did just get here amid a group of people who have a better grasp of the circumstances than he does... And helping a bunch of someones break out of jail is pretty different from what he normally does.

Of course, he still wants to prove himself, too. He'll mull on a plan. In the meantime: ]

[Look, notes are important!!! Paperwork is important!! (Even if she's literally the only person in the universe that believes that, she'll stan paperwork until she dies at the ripe old age of 32 or something.)]

I don't believe we have those where I come from. [But apparently she doesn't have jackshit where she comes from, she's learning that the hard way.] How does it work?

[ Ah, fun with discrepancies between dimensions. Well, here goes. ]

Do you have normal lightbulbs? They're sorta like that, except... Actually, let me just show you. Gimme a sec—

[ The camera blips off for a handful of seconds as Dipper fishes out the black light from his backpack. When the video flickers back to life, he's moved himself somewhere darker than before; in his other hand sits a small, purple colored florescent bulb. ]

Okay—see this? Watch! [ He flicks it on, and it doesn't light up much, but it does make Dipper look faintly more purple, and the orange of his shirt glows more vibrantly. He shoots a lopsided grin, and the white of his teeth join the orange in probably looking entirely too blinding. ] Kinda cool, huh?

[Bless u, smol child. She listens with interest, watching his demonstration carefully and noting down the strange glow it casts over his features.]

It's definitely impressive. [Count her interested in this mystical blacklight.] Does it work on any sort of ink?

I... think it's only certain kinds. [ He gestures vaguely. ] They work pretty good with highlighters too, but those're definitely not invisible.

[Whatever, she'll take it. That still sounds pretty useful overall.]

We'll see if we can find a use for it here as well. [ANYWAY onto slightly more serious stuff.] Have you done much fighting before?

[He's a kid and she sincerely hopes not, but sometimes it's hard to tell.]

I've never punched a guy in the face, if that's what you mean.

[ He's your typical scrawny nerd, truth be told, and the last time someone wanted to fight him didn't go so well. Welp. ]

I deal with things like monsters and ghosts and whatever a lot more than I do, uh... facing people.

[#protectdipper2k16. But hmmm, where does that leave them? He wants to make himself useful somehow but she doesn't want him getting hurt in any way.]

Magic? Oh, yeah—I know a few things about it.

[This 12 year old knows more about magic than she does...that's kind of sad.]

Supposedly there's magic barrier inside the jail. You might be able to look into that.

[ Don't feel bad, his life's just taken a turn for the weird lately. ]
