He's been at the scene of nearly every shocking event, decidedly un-shocked. There's a reason for that.]

Hello. My name is Arthur, and I speak to you today representing the Order of the Chimera. I've tracked down one of your own who has graciously allowed me to contact you all.

You're likely aware that some of your people are being detained by the guard on charges of treason. This is due in no small part to the Order meeting they were present at. My people have been taken, too. I understand you may oppose the Order, but in this instance, I believe it would benefit us all to work together to free them.

[He pauses for a moment.]

If freeing your companions isn't motivation enough, my brother is in custody as well. Although I hear the guard has invented a barrier to absorb magic, I have no doubts he will eventually escape. However, the longer he is kept, the greater his retribution will become. [Gravely:] If you value the safety of the people of Chantes, or even your own, I suggest you join the cause.

There is little time. We infiltrate the prison tomorrow, regardless of the risks. I assure you the damage will be much greater should Michel grow even angrier.

( there's bit of brief rustling as she checks her supply. how could she forget what she has with her? the answer is she's not very organised, and also she hadn't been planning on any particularly gruelling excursions; in fact she'd cleared out her inventory to be sure there was room for loot. alas. )

Nothing too fancy. Just the standard elfroot potions, a few restoration ones to get both your health and your stamina back up, and--ah, a Mythal's favour! ( she's surprised and pleased. ) This one is horribly expensive, but it revives without injuries.

But nothing to counter magic. Typical, really.

Oh, those all sound so fascinating! [ which is olivia's polite (but sincere!) way of saying she has no idea about 90% of what you've just said, but boy does it sure sound impressive.

( and Hawke does laugh a little: really, plants, interesting? still, she finds the enthusiasm endearing, wonders if maybe Olivia isn't a hobby botanist. not likely, but you never know. ) Well, they certainly will be useful if there's melee combat.

No idea! But maybe I can figure out some good ersatz. Or maybe one of the vendors can get something reasonably imported.

Really? ( she laughs, a quiet throaty sound. ) Well, I'll certainly have to now, because I'd be willing to bet you don't haggle so much as simply charm those poor merchants into giving you a deal you deserve. Even their hardened hearts couldn't stand a chance against the sound of such a sweet voice.

[ the other woman makes a brief, somewhat garbled sound on the other line — something between a scoff and a noise of embarrassment. ]

N-Not at all...! [ oh gosh, it's a good thing this isn't video, or olivia would have to cover her reddened face with her hands. ] There's nothing sweet about me at all! I have as much charm as week-old stew! [ ?? what kind of comparison... ]

( that's...certainly a sound. it takes Hawke a moment to realise that Olivia is actually that flustered. it's adorably, really, she's worse than Merrill--a quality that endears her immediately and makes it hard for Hawke not to laugh again. )

And now you're just being modest! Or is that a part of it? That is certainly a quirky comparison, I have to admit. Quite unique.

( how nice of her. still, Hawke is affected a little, and she smiles and somewhat softens her tone. because Olivia strikes her as genuinely sweet, and deserving of better, she's going to actually Try. good luck. )
