[ Aizawa's lolling against some tree somewhere. Terrible, slumped posture; hair wild about his face. His expression is neutral, bordering on irritable, and his voice is an exhausted monotone. He sits with one leg folded over the other, idly tossing a cat figurine from hand to hand. ]

Hey. Myself and a few others did some looking around. Apparently, both the sea clan and the mountain clan have their allies--but they're not within easy reach. In the case of the sea clan, the empress's brother is married to some far-off queen. The mountain clan's allies aren't too nearby, either.

[ He shifts minutely. His eyes flutter briefly shut, and he sighs. ]

Point being, war between these two would be irrational. The old man we spoke with said no one really wants to start anything, but I don't know how true that is. I haven't tried to approach the nobles.

[ He really doesn't look or act the part, and he knows it. Nor does he have an escort. ]

If you've spoken to any of them, what's the mood? What do they want?

[ He cards a hand through his hair, frowning slightly. ]

They're the key to this, I think. Certainly the key to actually meeting that empress of theirs. So if you've got info, or if you've made any connections, spill it.

We've got a dog person...? Okay, in that case, I'll give you that one. Afraid I haven't been able to get to any of the nobles, but I'll see what I can do later. What've the others had to say so far?

[ Since people with animal features are completely the norm where he's from, Aizawa just assumes Inuyasha is a person-person (with a dog quirk). So he shrugs. ]

You don't sound like the type of person they'd want to talk to.

They've all said plenty. Most of it unhelpful. But we do have a plan, at least.

Some kind of plan's better than none. You sound like you've got more of an idea than some of the other newbies around here.

[ Hmm. He'd noticed that a few people were wearing extra badges, but he didn't recall any information about that offered in the welcome spiel. ]

'Other newbies'? So you're not new.

So no one's told given you the ALASTAIR spiel yet, then.

[hem-hem. exposition time.]

There were two organizations involved in bringing the multiverse together: Zymandis, whose mission was to bring about the destruction of unstable worlds to create a single stable universe... and ALASTAIR, an offshoot of Zymandis that was opposed to the destruction it sought. We stopped Zymandis and merged the universes with minimal destruction some months back.

Remnants of both groups formed Hathaway, the organization we're now working with. Our team, Ophelia, was formed out of a good number of old members of the smaller ALASTAIR team, Audentes.
