[Under a microscope -- or in this case, a magic sea serpent eyeball thing -- not only is their structure clearly indeed all crystal, but it's not standard diamond Where a traditional jewelry-grade diamond is a monocrystal, all one solid piece, their structure is a mass of tiny crystals making up the whole.
