though it's important to keep in mind that nobody's actually at war yet.

the people around here seem pretty bloodthirsty for it, from what i've seen. if war breaks out, we should come up with strategies to quell it.

that said, if they made a truce and the mountain clan attacked the sea clan after making the truce, it'd probably be off, right? because, you know. that makes sense.

Truces are great, but they're only as solid as the people choosing to adhere to them, so you have to make sure they're negotiated properly.

Both sides are going to be loyal to the Empress, but they aren't the type of loyal where they'd die for the Empress. Probably.

yeah, that makes sense. most people are more worried about day-to-day things like, having enough to eat, taking care of their kids, all that, you know? Most people do not wish to fight, unless they feel threatened and are willing to follow a leader into battle. Which is why I believe a truce is possible between the Empresses and the Flowerland's lord.

A truce is only as good as those that reach it. Details matter, after all, and this is certainly going to affect quite a lot more people than those reaching a truce.
We haven't exactly heard from the Sea Clan yet, have we? There's always a reason for not getting along.

yeah, maybe a truce wouldn't work out in the first place between ... people with strong personalities. it's too much to expect either side to compromise completely. and then keeping everyone else in line with it is a completely separate thing.

Truces and ceasefires are well and good I guess, but not as good as a peace.

sometimes those things are necessary to get peace, you know? like a first step.

Once they officially schism there's no putting things back together again. Even if they reconcile on beneficial terms to both clans, there'll still be grudges and resentment. More than there are now. More fractured pieces to try to put back together again. It's more difficult to move forward from that place once you reach it than to swallow your pride and avoid it in the first place.
