Well, hello!

[ it's Loki, decked out in his civvies, green hoodie and fingerless gloves, working his magitek like he's trying to take a selfie. behind him is the backdrop of the middle levels, dimly lit in the dreary evening. there's a flash of a half smile to Team Ophelia, and when he speaks again it's in a wistful, casual tone. ]

It seems that we've landed ourselves a doozy, hm? The poor souls in Rost are are ready for a little revolution, but haven't a solid plan for the rest. [ he makes vague, spread-finger gesture, and his expression says that he's excited about the prospect of an uprooting. ] But like every ready and willing revolution, there should—hm, well ... probably be some longer term changes following it, right?

It's not exactly in the mission specs, which is wringing out the corruption and all ... nor is solidity my specialty, buu-uu-ut!

[ the camera angle changes, as Ahad reaches into the frame and adjusts Loki's arm. they've managed to squish together so that they're both easily viewable, from Loki's magitek. ]

But it would be irresponsible, to leave without ensuring that they have a plan for for governance post-mission. While the ultimate solution should be left up to the people of Drakstaden, [ he says, as if this is a foregone conclusion that requires no debate, ] perhaps we could offer suggestions? What has been successful, in your own worlds?

[ Loki's head is half obscured by the video while he changes the angle to put a pair of wiggly rabbit ears behind Ahad's head. ] That means the suggestion box is open! Let's get a team effort, hm?

Agreed, there is no point in exchanging one dictatorship for another.

You'd probably require a system to ensure the legitimacy of the votes, an understanding that the losing party are not to try and seize power by force.

Parties, even. The more elements of society that are represented, the less likely they are to run into the same problems.

True, parties then. Would a system like a senate not be more ideal? Every group gets a voice, at least, to relay their concerns.

Power would be spread out evenly, among all of the various groups? They may have difficulty getting anything done.

Agreed but. How else would you ensure that needs are meet for everyone?

I'm concerned that we might leave something worse in place if there are no plans for what comes after.

Yes, I agree. It's why we began this discussion. Rost plans to remove those in power, but the potential for that to lead to chaos and further violence is high.

A senate is certainly a system of government that should be considered.

You're right, but it would take time to set something like that up. It needs to be something the leaders of the Rost want to as well.

In an ideal scenario, those in power would be willing to negotiate a transition to a form of democracy but I get the feeling this is me being too optimistic.

So many of us are very focused on the idea of democracy. Is it that common?

Where I'm from there used to be a democracy, a Republic but that ended and it became an Empire. We still have a senate that represents different planets but yeah. It's about power.

For many years, the representative assembly where I am from was entirely a sham. The world was ruled entirely by one family, that liked to pretend they were not actually ruling.

That sounds like a shitty government, no offence. It's not unlike the one we have, most people compete for the Emperor's favour and. Well, let's say that without connections you are stuck even if you are good at your job.

Even so, violence should be the last resort.

I don't take offence at such an accurate assessment. It was a shitty government, but something new has finally taken its place.

It would be preferable, if violence could be avoided. But we should be ready.

Agreed, what's that saying about "hope for the best but prepare for the worst"?

Nor that there's a single position that they're running for. From what I know of mortal government, the more- and the fewer- there are to debate, the better it is.

[ he says "mortal," but it rings true in Asgard all the same. ]

Within reason, yeah, you could well be right. I don't think a small ruling body is bad as long as the needs of all the citizens are being met. It does seem like the best way to ensure that is by giving everyone some sort of voice in how things are run.

There still needs to be thought put into it, blah blah blah...
But it's a start. Not that we'll necessarily end on that note- but we do need to set a tone.

Yeah. Politics is not my expertise, nor is dealing with ruling bodies aside from following orders. I feel like I need to second guess any suggestion I make.

I'll happily defer to your experience on this matter.

Sorry, I've never met any gods before. Not sure what they're supposed to do but if you're 'immortal' wouldn't it make sense to give mortals suggestions.

Time gives experience and all.
