Well, hello!

[ it's Loki, decked out in his civvies, green hoodie and fingerless gloves, working his magitek like he's trying to take a selfie. behind him is the backdrop of the middle levels, dimly lit in the dreary evening. there's a flash of a half smile to Team Ophelia, and when he speaks again it's in a wistful, casual tone. ]

It seems that we've landed ourselves a doozy, hm? The poor souls in Rost are are ready for a little revolution, but haven't a solid plan for the rest. [ he makes vague, spread-finger gesture, and his expression says that he's excited about the prospect of an uprooting. ] But like every ready and willing revolution, there should—hm, well ... probably be some longer term changes following it, right?

It's not exactly in the mission specs, which is wringing out the corruption and all ... nor is solidity my specialty, buu-uu-ut!

[ the camera angle changes, as Ahad reaches into the frame and adjusts Loki's arm. they've managed to squish together so that they're both easily viewable, from Loki's magitek. ]

But it would be irresponsible, to leave without ensuring that they have a plan for for governance post-mission. While the ultimate solution should be left up to the people of Drakstaden, [ he says, as if this is a foregone conclusion that requires no debate, ] perhaps we could offer suggestions? What has been successful, in your own worlds?

[ Loki's head is half obscured by the video while he changes the angle to put a pair of wiggly rabbit ears behind Ahad's head. ] That means the suggestion box is open! Let's get a team effort, hm?

Perhaps, but for the desired outcome to be something other than chaos, we should at least try to set a tone. We fly blind, but we can peek from beneath the cloth over our eyes.

But I don't expect that would be a particularly productive 'tone' for this world.

Oh, I don't know ... I'm sure some would love to go combat all over their current dictator.

It may well come to that. But, if it does, it's just as likely that we strike the killing blow, rather than the natives.

That sounds intense. Is your culture one that values strength above all else?

I'm afraid so.

And how would you get rid of that if you could? Traditions are difficult mentalities to change.

I only recently took the position of Emperor. It would be arrogant to presume I can change the mentality of my people right away, however. I cannot wipe away centuries of tradition through will alone. But I can show them a different path.

[vanto]

And you got this position by winning ritual combat? Huh. You must be a very impressive fighter.

I had to be.

Sounds difficult if you're not someone who advocates violence by nature. [Eli has a lot of sympathy for this. Having no choice is an awful situation to be in.]

I have always preferred another way. But I also have to survive.

No one can fault you for that. I am sorry that you had to grow up in that sort of situation.

I was born to a brutal legacy, but I believe it's a cycle that can be broken.

Thanks. It speaks very highly of you that you'd seek to break that cycle despite being forced into it.

My mentor was thrown into a system that looked down on him because of his origins but he always acted justly. You remind me of him.

Where a person comes from doesn't matter. Ability and drive--those are the important things. And I believe they have no specific origin point.

[ He bows his head slightly. ]

In any case, I suspect you've just given me great praise. I shall endeavor to rise to it.

I'm in complete agreement with you. That is a system I would try to encourage here, if the Rost is successful it needs more than just 'getting rid of those in power' to make real change.
