Hello.

[ She wonders what some may think of her now, given how calm she is. Alice usually isn't one for starting up conversations and it shows how she seems to fidget in her seat. ]

We must have new "recruits", I can't say I remember any of you from when I first arrived. I'm not good at introductions, forgive me -- my name is Alice Liddell. But I didn't want to address others to introduce myself.

I imagine that some of you may have had your clothing sullied or tattered from what transpired a few days ago with our little excursion. [ Far too polite, considering some of ALASTAIR's own are far from noble and composed. ]

I do have an offer. If you're mindful of your budget, and... other things, such as keeping from authorities, I would like to offer my services to tend to garments. I'm not the most renowned seamstress, but it is very customary where I come from young girls are taught many things, including sewing. I don't ask for anything in return; I don't want anything. It's the least I can do for some of you, who have been held for two weeks. I'll even clean garments for those of you who haven't gotten the chance in the past few weeks.

[ Alice pauses and adds- ]

And, I must note, despite offering such a generous offer, I will only do so, for a small while, as long as some of us -- or most of us -- are looking to be discreet. Indeed, there are vendors who are willing to provide, though they may be looking at this as means to exploit us for a profit. Alternatively, the goblins maybe one venue if you're looking for new clothes to begin with. At least they seem reasonable when it comes to pricing, I've noticed.

It would be my pleasure to do so. I am no tailor, so my results would hardly be something to wear formally...

[ Which is only true in the high society world he's used to. And his own high standards. ]

But the clothing I can make is at least passable, I would hope? Master Sullivan can provide more insight onto that than I.

[ Considering how he dresses, Alice is assuming as much. She finds herself mulling it over. If anything, it makes her feel a little guilty. ]

If it his choice. But it was what I did before I arrived here, I was a maidservant and matron, tending to children's clothing was a part of my duties.

I would say not to worry about being a tailor.

[ She forces an awkward smile. If he's worked as a servant, then Alice feels like he should understand her sentiment. ]

But, at the very least, it's something to do, isn't it? It feels odd not having meager tasks like cooking or cleaning.

Then your experience will surely prove most helpful in this case. Considering recent events I know for a fact many suffered a lack of hygiene.

[She nods authoritatively- maid servants did tend to know about these things- of course, her three maids had all known basic needlework, but none had been particularly gifted except Anne... Well. It turned out they were all soldiers so. It made... Sense in retrospect.......]

Perhaps, but children's clothing is different from the clothing of adults. I can only count for three children here. Then again... I suppose some may fall in that category, considering.

[ She thinks sewing for her would be pretty easy, it wouldn't need that much fabric. ]

Hygiene, yes, among other things. It will take just as much time for them to recover from that.

<sub>[ Gintoki got this little message on his watch but didn't make any attempt to reply to her through his device. Instead, he'll be showing up at the inn they've been staying at. He's been keeping in touch with Alice every day and every night; sending her messages to reassure her things are alright with him— though they are brief and sometimes vague messages. He can't simply sit still, though, especially in this kind of territory where he's being looked for.

Though, the past few days have been ???? really, one big question mark for Gintoki. It was a stressful, intense situation, and he's been visiting a tavern on the goblin's side now and then to see what kind of drink they have to offer.

He hadn't expected to feel so comfortable and good about coming back to the Abel Inn with alcohol running through his system. In fact, he wasn't expecting to really show this side of him to Alice at all— probably because he knew he might get scolded.

And yet, here he is.

The door swings open and his voice bursts cheerfully through the room: ]</sub>

Hiiiii! Gin-san is home! Sorry, sorry— I know I've been out a lot but I brought you somethin' to make up for it.
_{[ ... speaking of needing new clothes, Gintoki was in the same, blood stained yukata. ]}

[ His own smile is smooth, as if encouraging her very gently with it. Sebastian does seem to value the comfort of others quite a bit, so this may not be a surprise. Considering how polite he had been last they spoke, it fits perfectly in line with that particular image. ]

It absolutely is, and I think it is a grand idea as a result. To not be formally tasked with such things at all, well.

[ He laughs, then shakes his head. ]

It is a bit odd, admittedly! My young master is quite the demanding young man, so this almost feels like a vacation by comparison. [ A pause, and then he adds, ] I am just kidding, mind you, but his expectations are rather high, is my point.

Why, you flatter me.

[ and he loves it ]

It is not something that I have to do often, which is why I do not quite have the same confidence in it as other skills... The tailor that we use for the manor is quite skilled in her own right, so I do defer to her expertise, generally speaking.

[ That's... unexpected. Alice doesn't even hide the fact she flinches when Gintoki comes through the door, loud as he is. Judging from how he is, Alice is already assuming he's had something to drink. She couldn't really understand the appeal of drinking, herself. He may end up being scolded from Alice or he may not at all. The past few days, she's been letting him slide by with a lot of things. She can't really convey her gratitude any other way. Slowly, she turns over to him, looking him over.

He's still in the same bloodstained clothes. Not that she has much room to talk, herself, considering the state she arrived in. She dreads to ask- ]

What did you bring me, Mr. Gin?

[ Oh, god.

If she is even the slightest bit annoyed, she masks it well. ]

I brought you— _{[ woah there, let him steady his balance before a hand reaches inside of his yukata and he pulls out a little box, pointing at it with his other hand and grinning wildly. ]}

I brought you chocolates! From the goblins, um. _{[ He holds the box right up to his nose and studies it hard.. and for a good silent moment before he speaks again: ]}

Yeah, uh. They're safe to eat! I had some.
_{[ He did, in fact, have some. There were a few missing pieces in the box and it was obvious. Gintoki's voice lowers as a hiccup passes through his throat: ]}

You're fortunate to have patience; I don't think I could have the patience to be anything but a matron and maid to orphaned children.

[ She has far too much of an independent streak to work in a household. Though, in retrospect, it probably would have been better if she did become a maid for an upper class family.

If anyone was willing to take a former asylum patient. ]

It's rather odd a fellow like you ended up in such a place like this, with magicians, warriors, knights, and thieves. Not that I discredit your skills, sir, you just seem far too mild mannered for this place.

[ She still remembers telling Gintoki she wasn't fond of sweets as much as she was before. True to Alice, she doesn't have the heart to tell him otherwise. Besides, it's telling, in her opinion, that he brought her them, considering his sweet tooth. A genuine smile spreads across her face. ]

Oh, thank you.

[ She's not surprised as she opens the box to see a few missing. So typical. But her attention goes back to his wobbly feet, stepping back some just in case he decides to faceplant on the ground and not on her. ]

And I see that you're still in dire need of laundry to be done. And some new clothing. Nonetheless, welcome back.

Ah ha.. hahahaaa! <sub>[ Oh. That's laughter? Has he even laughed at all since he has been here? The answer: no, he hasn't. It's short and over in no time when Alice takes the chocolate from him, he just wipes his wrist along his brow— it looks like he still has a few little bruises there and the healing gash— he discarded his bandage recently that was there.

Without warning, the yukata slips off to be discarded on the floor and leaves him in his shirt and pants, struggling to get out of his boots. ]</sub>

That's funny, and it makes sense that laundry has to be done. _{[ Shinpachi isn't here to do it for him. ]} I don't think it'll ever get done. _{[ He's not sure if he's going to see them again. ]}

You're very smart, Alice-chan.

[ Come to think of it, she hasn't heard him laugh before. A frown forms on her face as she looks at his wound --- that's right, he had a head wound when she found him, didn't she? Or rather, when he found her and when he headbutt Ban.

Sighing to herself, Alice scoops up the discarded yukata, briefly looking at it. She thinks it's pretty, of course. ]

Of course it will get done, silly, that's why I'm offering.

[ Doing additional laundry for a grown man versus 20 children isn't so bad. She's really never asked about the honorifics she's been addressed by, up until now. ]

I don't mind at all, though... "chan"?

[ It sounds so much more different than "Alice-san" that Sakura and Gintoki address her by. ]

<sub>[ Gintoki, by now, has decided to give up on his second boot. It was too much effort, so he goes staggering to the bed and flops right down on it uselessly. He stretches his entire body out, rubbing his face into the pillow before peering one red eye out to look at Alice.

Alice-chaaaaan-- _{[ He croons, then rolls over on his side so he is looking at her. ]}

It means we're friends. _{[ —sort of. It means they're close or if he finds he person endearing. Though, if he was in his right mind, he probably would not have used this so easily. ]}

If you needed a second pair of hands, I learned how to mend things on my own when I was young. It'd not be as neat as yours, I'm sure, but I could use something to do.

I suppose I will take this as a chance to better my skills, perhaps? I made that ensemble for you out of less than ideal materials, but with any luck, I can make something better for you here. We may as well take this time to our advantage, after all!

[ The comment on patience gets Sebastian to laugh shortly, but still good-naturedly. It seems that he either completely agrees or completely doesn't, but either way, that good-natured laugh seems to imply a story behind it. ]

Well! It is an acquired skill, I must admit... I am certain that I would be less patience if my patience were not tested every day by the rest of our serving staff. They are quite miserably incompetent, so I take care of everything myself, you see.

[ Which... he seems to be fine with? Maybe he's found a new level of patience all together with an answer like that. ]

Ah, but it is quite all right. There is no offense taken, for I will hardly disagree with your assessment... I do seem to be a bit out of place. [ He laughs, though his humor here is mostly because he's actually extremely well-suited to this. It's just also not something he's keen to advertise. ] If anyone is in need of chores, cookery, or other sorts of menial tasks, I would think I am well-suited, at least!
