It's the tail end of the struggle, though, and Kung Jin is fighting a losing battle. It takes half a second for Asher Millstone to shove his way into view, taking up half of the screen and speaking up before Jin can truly get a word in.

The law student looks more excited than ever when he starts speaking, and even lifts his arms above his head in a “raise the roof” sort of gesture.]

Don't. [He nearly slaps a hand over his friend's mouth, but reconsiders, elbowing him back instead.] So, Audentes. Since we're almost all set to leave on our next assignment, it's come to our attention that not everyone here is from a world that people like Asher or I consider "modern day".

Whoa, you? Wait a minute. Last I checked, there was nothing normal about you, man. People in your world, like, rip dudes’ spines out through their mouths and crap!

[After he says this, Asher immediately turns from Jin back to the camera, and waves his hands emphatically in its general direction.]

[Jin casts a dubious glance at Asher and moves right along in spite of all the interruptions.]

[There's a tendency for people on this team to be negative or overly critical, so Asher is charmed by this one very well-intentioned response. He's bothered again seeing someone so young being thrust into dangerous situations, unaware that Aang has potentially lived through some of the worst.]

Yeah. [With a point towards the very obvious, very blue arrow:] They're my airbending tattoos. I covered them up once before, when we were hiding in the Fire Nation, so I should be able to do it again.

No one's ever called me that before but I can bend the four elements whenever I want, if that's what one is supposed to be.

If bending's the same as controlling them and making them, then yeah, that's the equivalent in my world. I've seen people who're able to control ice, flame, earth, water, electricity, wind... but most people can just work with one. Four is pretty impressive.

[But hey, that makes him think...]

One of my relatives learned how to manipulate the winds when he was training with the Shaolin. I'm kinda curious to see if what you've got is the same thing or not.

I'm the only one that can bend all four. It's part of being the Avatar.

Not everyone can do this. All air nomads can airbend because we're more attuned with spiritual energy than most other people are, but not everyone in the Earth Kingdom or the Fire Nation or the Water Tribes can bend.

[as for jin's question] I had to practice to master airbending but I've always been able to do it. So I guess you could say I was born with it.

Exactly. You'll need to be careful. There's no telling what kind of reaction they'll have to someone with your kind of abilities: they might be amazed, but it's entirely possible they'll just be afraid. Unfortunately.
