I've seen and heard a lot of talk over how we're meant to accomplish this task.

To those of you who are new and those who have been here from the start, I'm curious- ideally, how would you like to see such a goal accomplished?

That is the nature of humanity. To constantly strive to achieve their own personal goals, and yet, as a collective, they perpetually make the same mistakes.

Peace is never everlasting. Either you strive to save those who live in the here and now, or you decide nothing is worth saving at all.

If you cannot decide, you have effectively chosen to do nothing.

Aren't we already idealistically looking at this just by considering your question posed?

what if bringing back the sun actually kills everyone involved here? you still complete the objective of peace by bringing the sun back. even if you harm no one in the process of achieving this outcome.

"Idealistically", no one would be hurt, and we would manage to save everyone in meeting the mission parameters.

[ Everyone should know by now that the likelihood of that is less than zero. ]

Heroism and justice do not exist for those who are chosen or volunteer to be "cleaners". Saving one means being unable to save another, and preserving timelines has always entailed a sacrifice.

Good or evil, that is the reality of what we have been called here to do.

But why are you asking for an ideal outcome opinion from others if you haven't set a base point of what we are really here for already? or are you just trying to point out that the idea of "saving" is idealistic in itself?

When I consider it all you actually have not said much at all missing these key factors, right? So, what do you think we are meant to be here as while carrying out these orders, Archer? Even if it's not what we really end up being, don't you have an opinion on the intent ALASTAIR views the mission as when deploying?

We're here to be "cleaners". A "cleaner" is nothing more or less than someone who mops up a mess left behind by someone else.

There is no pride or honor in it, and anyone who expects anything different has never experienced the harsh realities that come with this sort of work.

I posed this question because I wanted to know and understand those I'm expected to be working with.

Those who entrust their afterlives to a power known as Alaya in my world become its agents. They are Heroic Spirits, Counter Guardians who are summoned into every age of human history in order to correct cataclysms that would otherwise spell the end of all human life.

Good or evil, those perceived as a threat to that balance are eliminated without a shred of mercy.

Death is part of life. As humans grow old and die, worlds are no different.

As the world was born in fire, so too it will eventually be cleansed so new life can be born.

That is the nature of life's cycle.
