!IMPORTANT! video; username: 82736775

[The video is from everyone's favorite camera-shy mad scientist, 82736775. This time, he's not even present in a carefully-framed way; he appears to just be using his jewellery as a Go-Pro.

The view is a large machine in the middle of the woods. It's crudely constructed, with loud, grinding gears and exhaust tubes belching smoke. There are three figures scurrying about -- Dipper, Shiki, and Hide, for those of you who would recognize them -- pulling levers and turning cranks and struggling to hear each other over the machine's groaning. Jars of fairy goop hang off the thing like lanterns in a coal mine.]

Listen uuuup, bitcheesss!

[The view jerks, then readjusts as the sky comes into focus.]

Thanks to my genius and everybody else's scrappy, can-do attitude, we're about to make scientific history. By which I mean w-we're about to blow this bullshit away.

[His hand enters the frame. He is flipping off the sky.]

Engage Operation: Fuck You, Magic!

[The frame stays centered on the sky, though the machine's groaning reaches almost deafening levels. Above the cacophony, there's a high-pitched whining: something is warming up. All over Chantes, the ground shakes.

Then bright green fills the screen and everything is so loud that it's almost silent. Those of you who are at a distance may see a gigantic green beam shooting into the sky just before everything turns bright white for a few long seconds.

And suddenly, there is light. Stars. Two moons. The sky is back.

82736775 is laughing maniacally. He swings the frame around to the giant machine, which has blasted wide open: smoking panels have fallen to the ground, exposing frayed wires. His assistants are also on the ground, looking dazed.]

Suck my dick, Narnia! Haha, yeah!

Now let's figure out what to do and get the hell off this rock! Team science, ouuuut!

[ ooc. IMPORTANT! the sun is now returned. from this point on, there are normal day-night cycles in chantes! be aware there are two moons, and the sun rises in the west. use this post to discuss what to do now! threadjacking encouraged. thank you to my fellow players and our modteam for making this plot so successful! i love you all.

UPDATE! check this thread for conversation on a peaceful option. ]

That makes it sound like you have certain colleagues in mind...

[riza? throwing other alastair recruits under the bus?

—well, rin does that constantly. so.]

Consider this your formal invitation, then. Who would you be best suited to approaching, you think? I should mention the Order has come up as another target to begin peace talks with.

[Just telling it like it is, yo. Riza has time to toss in a flippant remark—]

You'll have to meet them for yourself.

[—before sobering and turning her attention back to the matter at hand. (The formal invitation's appreciated but not required.)]

I don't believe King Christophe is keen on seeing me around the castle any time soon [or any time at all] so I won't be of much help there, unfortunately. I have spoken to a few members of the Order and Arthur was willing enough to approach me before. It might be best for me to track down remaining Order members and speak to them.

You're right. I'd almost forgotten. You're the one who gave him your communication jewel before the jailbreak. I'd be—in your debt if you pursued them.

[rin likely has very little "street cred" with the members of the order. what she does have was gained by aiding the jailbreak.]

[Wow Rin, don't make it sound like some life-altering favor. They're both in agreement over taking the path that results in least bloodshed, this is easy enough for Riza to do.]

Of course. I can't guarantee I'll be able to find him but I'll do what I can.

[She pauses briefly before resuming, turning the conversation towards Rin.]

Where do you plan to begin your efforts, Rin?

Honestly? I'm going to go visit the King.

[Rin's got her work cut out for her then.]

He won't be easy to convince, assuming he even allows an audience in the first place. He has little interest in aligning himself with ALASTAIR as a whole.

[And not just because some of them broke into his castle.]

Yeah, I'm aware. [she sounds very tired.] The big man in charge hired ALASTAIR to commit his mass genocide for him.

... Well, presumably a large majority of the humans still listen to him.

[Ehhhhh, she wouldn't bank on that.]

Not necessarily. He has his own interests at heart, rather than those of his people. If they conflict enough and start threatening the safety and well-being of the people, I doubt they'd take his side for too long.

[Though that doesn't account for the sheer force on the King's side.]

In any case, making some sort of effort can't hurt.

[Though it might not help either.]

But, the guards! And they haven't overthrown him—!

[if he has his own interests at heart, wouldn't the people automatically abandon him? rin has a hard time believing his authority isn't at least respected—or feared—to some degree.]

Although it could just be a matter of informing the citizens of Chantes of the true story, about what we know.

['Fear' is probably the correct answer in this case, especially given the king's ability to call for ALASTAIR's aid and have that call answered. (Though whether or not ALASTAIR has any sort of stake in the situation in Chantes is another question, one best saved for a later date.)]

If your meeting doesn't go well, we may need to take that route. [But then that pulls other factors into the mix, and makes everything far messier than it ought to be.] Though we'll need proof other than just our own words.

[she deliberates it, but then, as is rin's habit, she decides on a single course of action and commits to it.

she nods.]

Understood. Please, take care out there, Riza. Contact me if I can do anything for you.
