[ So, that relatively cheerful guy dancing with everybody on the beach--he's gone. He's out of here. Koltira leans forward, his expression pained, jaw clenched. There's a flat piece of wood on the ground beside him with the start of an intricate filigree carved into it, but he's set it aside. He's focused entirely on the jewelry. ]

I feel unwell.

[ His guttural, echoing voice is rougher than usual; he sounds like jagged rocks scraping against each other, and the strange ethereal reverberation does nothing to better the effect.

He's experiencing, for the first time in years, something like fatigue. It's discomfiting, impossible. His kind does not tire. And yet here he is, feeling--not exhausted, but legitimately weary. ]

The ocean is not rife with magic, but it provides some sustenance.

[ He shakes his head, as though trying to clear his vision. Some sustenance. Not enough. ]

If anyone has found other sources, I would know of them.

[ His voice drops to an almost feral growl. ]

Or a solution.

Not immediately, no. But I don't think it's a coincidence that the native's powers are disappearing and so are ours.

I don't know about you, but I don't get my powers from some mysterious volcano goddess.

[ With a tilt of her head, it seems like she's inspecting his face, over the feed anyhow, and finally comes to some kind of conclusion. Smiling gently, her shoulders relax a little. ]

I don't know where you can get more magic. All I can do is try to find a solution. I just can't help wondering if we've all been looking at it from the wrong angle.

No! Not at all. But I can't say I have it that bad. Being normal again isn't too bad, but I kind of miss flying.

Mortal, I guess? But even more so than when I was alive the first time.

No, not anymore. For a while, I was a ghost, and then I was a ghost within a robot, and now I am completely alive. Maybe you would call it... [ What was the human word? He doesn't look human but maybe it will suffice. ] Reborn? Reinstated completely and fully into the world of the living without any caveats, rather than simply reanimated from a corpse.

[ It is very complicated. ]

I like to think so! I am going to guess that your story is very different. Should I bother asking?

[ She gives a knowing nod. She understands you, strange friend. ]

And now you need magic to stay alive? Or was that true before you died, too?

Ah! Necromancy.

[ Said like someone who's just found the worst she was missing in her crossword puzzle. She seems more intrigued than anything, but bites her tongue. She knows if she goes down that route, it's just going to be question after question, and it's not going to help. ]

I'll be on the look out for any wayward magic, then, or perhaps a necromancer. I think the saying goes, any port in a storm?
