[ So, that relatively cheerful guy dancing with everybody on the beach--he's gone. He's out of here. Koltira leans forward, his expression pained, jaw clenched. There's a flat piece of wood on the ground beside him with the start of an intricate filigree carved into it, but he's set it aside. He's focused entirely on the jewelry. ]

I feel unwell.

[ His guttural, echoing voice is rougher than usual; he sounds like jagged rocks scraping against each other, and the strange ethereal reverberation does nothing to better the effect.

He's experiencing, for the first time in years, something like fatigue. It's discomfiting, impossible. His kind does not tire. And yet here he is, feeling--not exhausted, but legitimately weary. ]

The ocean is not rife with magic, but it provides some sustenance.

[ He shakes his head, as though trying to clear his vision. Some sustenance. Not enough. ]

If anyone has found other sources, I would know of them.

[ His voice drops to an almost feral growl. ]

Or a solution.

Thhaaaaatttt'ss a little hard to answer straight. The short answer is probably I'm more than a mage but less than something beyond human.

I can tell you the long version, but it's the kind of thing you usually only inflict upon yourself as self-punishment when you're guilty about feeling too good. Your status could afford some recovery before that, yeah?

[ If the other is that interested once things are back to normal, he'll spill. ]

That would be me.

[ Masamune responds casually enough with his approach. Although he had been already sizing Koltira up, his attention momentarily flickers towards the ears at their movement. They are something new to see on a humanoid and he can't help but already find them really interesting-- attractive, even? What a bad time to be thinking about features, though.

Luckily, he is not so oblivious to this situation being a rather serious-- and, not to mention, troubling --one for the other, therefore he avoids getting distracted further than his initial curious glance.

The young Date lord is not familiar with the species Koltira is, but he doesn't need to be.
]

You look in real tough shape. This kind of ruins the vacation atmosphere of this place for a lot of you. [ He offers a hint of a smile with his comment, although Masamune's voice and expression are dominantly quizzical as he stops to crouch down in front of Koltira. What he can't tell is if it's because the other is so unused to whatever he's experiencing or if it's just really that bad.

For better or for worse, he's mostly lacking the experience for empathy.
]

You're not injured anywhere, right? [ He hadn't considered it during the offering, but he's never transfused any of his element source form to someone injured or otherwise physically compromised. It shouldn't be a problem, he thinks, if the receiver is able to handle mana themselves and are even apparently dependent on it.

(But, really? His first clue should have been seeing Gilgamesh's attitude towards this guy for a hint of what he's dealing with. That's all he would have needed to dismiss even the oddest of concerns regarding that he might somehow make it worse for Koltira if he wasn't cautious.

It should have been— but it's not, so he hesitates and asks such a thing.)

[ Masamune's initial action is to jerk back suddenly when it is no longer simply a grip, opening his mouth but the words do not vocalize like they should. That, along with the strange feeling of his neurons demanding an electrical discharge with his emotional surge of shock and said energy being impeded, gets his attempt to not even last half a second. He's reminded of nightmares that never allow the dreamer to scream or speak up when they need to most.

Grimacing, Masamune stares at the hand about his wrist and the glow resulting. It's unnatural—the unsettling feeling of something inside of him distinctly ebbing and flowing as if his skin has been turned inside out for the sensation. It alone doesn't hurt, but it's unpleasant and a disgusting form of self-awareness he's not used to it. What it does do, however, is make what is painful worse. There's no way to gather himself and brace to get accustomed to it. Like being in deep water, there's nothing to grab onto. Without a grounding point, the constant rending suction is felt in full. Seconds don't feel like seconds.

This is definitely...

( —he bites his lip, refusing even mentally to admit such a thing because this is nothing, nothing— )

This is not the samurai's idea of a good time.

When he can finally speak again, it's a strained and tired chuckle. Somewhere being exasperation and exhaustion laced with that tinge of anxiety from the less than pleasant situation. The words spoken are distracted and slowly forced out, but any focus he can give to speaking is focus taken from this skin-crawling pain.

He's still refusing to look up (actually, he bows his head even more), but he feels as hot as he is now flushed from adrenaline and the backfire of intended discharge due to the silencing. It could be worse, he guesses. He could be pale as a ghost and about to puke. Or something.
]

Don't know if you know this or not, but... this sorta' sucks serious shit...

. . .

...no pun intended whatsoever.

[ Masamune drops at being suddenly let go, a small yip as he unceremoniously hits the ground—he may have seemed to not be struggling or resisting, but that apparently hadn't been the real case. In a way, it makes sense that he had managed to apply some sort of artificial force to counter against the pain and brace himself. With the source suddenly gone, however, everything collapses.

Masamune takes a deep breath before pulling himself into a sitting position rather suddenly and forces a smile as if none of that just happened. No way did the little dragon just pretty much back plant from simply being let go after that. Nothing so undignified could have occurred. Ha...!
]

Just lovin' it. All good. I've been living off pain since I was a kid. Nothing better to remind you that you're alive when all else fails. It was a nice rush.

[ Another deep breath is taken and exhaled sharply. This time, he doesn't make any attempt to display his prideful plumage in the face of a powerful individual. Instead, he simply looks strangely tired, an expression worn that a small child might don when confused at being tired and in need of a nap. It's a small cranky fuss of a frown that disappears rather quickly when he looks at Koltira.

Masamune is struck by the apologetic expression—either Koltira's an excellent actor or really means it. Both would deserve the same response here so he continues to withhold any unpleasant words he might have had to say.
]

That was my fault. I should have known you had an ability like that. You were obviously desperate, too, so... yeah, my bad. [ His smile is more sincere now as his heart rate settles. Right, he should actually clarify to reassure. ] I've never felt anything like it before, but it's done no harm. Maybe being tired is an unfamiliar feeling to you, but, to me, the end result feels no different than pushing your limits during a fight or something.

It's absolutely OK.

Kindness, huh. [ That's probably not the first thing Masamune thinks of when considering kindness, but there's not much to argue.

Besides, there are definitely more important things to consider here. Such as Masamune could take that as a hint to leave and let Koltira rest. While he doesn't know if rest would even help, there's still something really pressing that needs to be addressed here.

Sitting quietly for a moment, much like taking a breather from a long physical endeavor, before he finally speaks up, shifting onto his knees.
]

Okay. Not to be weird [ --it will totally be weird and that's not stopping him even a little-- ] but are those real?

[ Not that it's so easy for Koltira to tell as Masamune stares intently and awaits an answer, but he's honed in on Koltira's ears again. They're like rabbit ears but not. What the hell... that's cute (the first impression hasn't gone away even after what just happened, weird...), that shouldn't really be allowed on an otherwise intimidating (very attractive, but no less intimidating) individual.

They're some kind of decoration, right? This guy is bigger than he is, there's no way...

[ Is he doing that on purpose!?

Masamune stares, and for a moment it's a similar expression to a cat taking interest and then waiting to pounce.

Maybe a little too similar. Either Masamune can't seem to identify them as ears in order to explain what he's talking about or the young warlord didn't even hear the question.

Prepare yourself, Koltira. It's time to take this into his own hands. Without a response, he stands up with a serious expression on his face. It's a simple and fast movement once he actually acts. He goes to step forward and reaches out to grab one of Koltira's ears ( because what are manners when curiosity must be satisfied, anyway ).

Of course, while in all other scenarios, this would be a no brainer and the other would probably end up experiencing something equivalent to a child tugging on hair except his ear as the victim... It doesn't go quite the way Masamune intends. That question from earlier, if he was okay or not, comes back into play. He maybe feel more normal but apparently he's not yet ready to perform normal everyday feats, including moving in to harass those that don't deserve it.

Masamune is so close, but he misses Koltira's ear from his legs deciding to give way the moment he starts to move out of his standing position. His reach is just too short to follow through, but he does really make a good attempt, anyway. Not cool at all.

[ Some pain is worth it. Touching long ears that must have gone through the same evolution as horses did to become giraffes(???) is one of those things.

Probably.

Masamune doesn't look very thankful and he doesn't seem to feel much guilt despite the obviousness that Koltira is unhappy as those ears act like a cat's. When he sees their movement, however, his expression looks surprised before he covers his face and flops back down on the ground to curl up a little on one side.
]

Too very cute! What strange defense abilities. I've never seen anything so distracting in my whole life.

[ It's about as over dramatic as it sounds. He finally sits up again, looking like a child deprived of the cookie jar. ] Why can't I touch them..!?

[ How embarrassing. For everyone associated with this moron right here (because Masamune apparently doesn't care much himself) that seems to still not realize they are just ears. Or does he and he's just got a thing for things he feels are cute?

Yes, he is like five years old.

[ What a tsundere. Who would have thought...! Perfect, he compliments the yandere in Gilgamesh over these types of things.

Masamune frowns at Koltira. Although he can't read minds, if he knew there was issue with being called cute with those ears, he would have to break to him that he needs to take a long look in a mirror sometime.

Of course, that frown flatlines a little at the explanation. Sensitive and taboo? He's pretty sure you could beat a small child to death with them, how the hell they get by having sensitive ears longer than their head, he doesn't know.

Ah, but since he's on a roll... he flashes a smile, sitting up on his knees. If he could get up right now, he would be way more intimidating. Down here he looks sparkly with his smile and in his element and harmless... for now. Definitely emanating that touchy feely child vibe.

[ If he had a tail, it would definitely be wagging. Whether like a dog or a cat, though... well, that's harder to anticipate than one would think. ]

Got it. Hopefully between that and the magic or whatever, you can be in a little less discomfort now. Physically, I mean. [ Your mental discomfort from his shenanigans, on the other hand... well, emotionally constipated people have a lot to deal with, it's unfortunate.

But, the comment still slips in a questionable detail: did he just go borderline sexual harassment(??) to try and distract this stranger to try and distract him from his physical suffering, even if just a little? Is that what he's saying? Because it sure may sound like it.
]

Anyway, Dreamweaver, yes? Please sit here and tolerate my company little while longer. Then you may be off, if you like. Or I will be, if you like this spot.

[ Masamune doesn't say any more nor does he make any moves toward the other. All he does is bow his head and sit in silence, placing his hands on his knees. ]

[ Hopefully the other will stubbornly linger to keep his nice resting spot, because if he doesn't, Masamune may become a pest again. Best not to chance it, yes? Silence must be fantastic right now, Koltira. And being not harassed.

It's fifteen minutes, maybe twenty maximum before the young warlord moves. He reaches forward with his right hand to scoop up some sand and gets to his feet, this time backing further off from The elf rather than approaching. Taking a deep breath, he looks down at his own hand now, open palmed with the sand acquired earlier. His expression is a bit hidden due to his hair falling even more into his face than normal, but the best conclusion is he's analyzing rather than simply feeling some type of emotion before curling the fingers of his palm-up hand inwards to create a fist.

Something sparks then, initially like a fire trying to be created from flint, but the rise in static and the small crackling current that starts to weave in and out of sight about his hand and wrist suggest that it is not a fire that's being created, even to those who can't sense it's lightning, already.

A sudden thunder clap jaggedly claws the silence in the air and may even blur the vision momentarily in the 'burst' depending on how sensitive the user is in their hearing. Immediately following such-- but only for a split second --it seems as if there is a flash of intense light and heat that makes the sunny day and it's shade seem like night and the tropical heat of this world a cold front upon initial recovery. All of this from start to finish is gone almost as instantly as it comes, despite feeling far longer than no more than two seconds.
]

Here. [ Masamune tosses something to Koltira: a small glasslike orb. While transparent, inside are distinct veinlike streaks of white, blue and purple. It's almost as if something alive and moving has been frozen in motion— stored, more accurately. For someone who pretty much exists to magic, like Koltira, upon contact he'll be able to tell that the contents have been exactly that: stored and contained in their initial state. The other's hand touching it is enough for those 'veins' to cause the coloration inside them move thick and sluggish, almost like one might suspect to visualize blood coursing through a circulatory system. ]

It's not as potent as I hoped it would be. [ He nods towards the item, looking a little bit... it's hard to tell, but 'unsatisfied' might be a good word. Koltira probably will understand what Masamune is referring to, at least, if he's handled or seen lightning in its elemental state in some way: where the blue-white veins collapse in color to lilac and then darker purples is the sign of this world's draining effect. Masamune's inherent abilities almost never, even when his health is critical, produce anything colder than blue.

He lifts his hand now in demonstration: lightning sparks in a volatile and large quantity, but immediately fizzles out despite the aggressive initiation.
]

That's about 95% of what I got. That had been my original plan, but I guess you got a bonus. I should have known that if Gilgamesh is capable of feeding that way for magic, then you would have had your own ability, too.

[ The One-eyed Dragon makes a face. ] I don't really understand your worlds' kinda 'magic', but I can only figure their painful nature has to do with them doubling as a weapon. I wouldn't be able to recover my full power as quickly even without this mess, but, as you can see, it doesn't physically harm or disable me the way yours does. Yours is easier for me to recover from in terms of time and rapidity, but it's way more dangerous to me if we were enemies in battle.

[ To Masamune, it's better to know now than when it matters. The young lord sighs, closing his eyes as he considers anything else he should say. ]

I can't tell you how effective it will be or for how long: even if it wasn't weakened by this place. We only need to retain a fragment of our energy to recover and reassimilate we have never been able to use it faster than it recovers.

[ He's rambling, he feels, but-- ] What I'm saying is, I can tell you have an issue with the way your abilities work, unlike King Ego-up-his-Ass. I can admire someone who is honest in their need for help even if they would rather not cause the burden. If you need a source and you don't want to hurt people, I'll help you— if you're willing to ask, that is.

It may be unavoidable you need other sources at this rate, in this situation. Some things are necessary to sacrifice for survival. But, I'm still willing to ease your guilt a little at your consent.

See how far you can milk that before it runs dry. Or, if it really suits you, help others with it. I don't really care. It's yours now.

That's all. [If nothing else, the mercurial nature of this little dragon is sharply noticeable. Is he even the same person that just, no more than half-an-hour ago, was acting like a child to have an opportunity to touch an elf's ears just because? ]
