Like a few others here, I'm among those who met the goddess Nalanni. And like others there are things I learned from having a conversation with her. First and foremost, I'd like to request some help in conveying a message she intended for her people.

She wanted them to know that she loves them, and that she knows they can go on without her.

At the time, I was struck with the thought that she'd considered her own passing a possibility. And now that I've seen mentions of slaying gods here, it seems she wasn't wrong. Maybe some of you know more than me, but I'm not convinced it's the only way. Having said that, I'm not blind to the reality that those are our orders, and that there are those who will follow them.

I'm more interested in helping the Nalawi. I gave my word that I would do whatever I could, and so... To those who are already making efforts to ensure the Nalawi are able to sustain themselves, whatever may come, I'd like to volunteer any help I can provide.

If anyone wants further information on the conversation I had with Nalanni, please let me know. I'm unsure how much would be redundant, since admittedly, I've picked up on recent developments here and there.

I only spent a few minutes with her, but... I got the impression that she loves her people more than anything. She made a request of me, rather than dictating or threatening.

[Which...is surprising, from a being far more ancient and powerful than he's ever encountered. He pauses, looking down at something out of view for a moment]

And...I'd say she saw the circumstances clearly. She understood Pomarr had reason for vengeance.

If you don't mind — had you had a chance to watch the recording that Koltira had found? Of Nalanni, on Dakal.

[He shakes his head]

I've been trying to catch up, but I'm sure there are piece of information I'm missing. She did mention what she had done, however.

Mentioning it is one thing, watching it is another. One moment.

[ There's some fiddling as he figures out how to get a magic broadcast to link back to a magic broadcast, then he has it. He doesn't say anything, but watches Haise for a reaction. ]

[Haise doesn't speak as he takes this in, though he does cover his mouth with a hand when the screaming starts, eyebrows knitted together. No matter how long ago it may have been, suffering and needless death will never cease to be disturbing.

It take him some time, after he's finishes watching, to quietly respond]

I felt she regretted those actions...and I see she had every reason to.

[So much death has a weight to it that cannot be measured. Was she aware of that? It's not an assertion he can make, one way or the other]

[ While he doesn't know much about this guy or his character yet, the reaction is befitted to what Ashraf remembers of the recording. ]

Anyone with an ounce of goodness would have reason to. [ He rubs a hand over his mouth, frowning. ] When I first saw that recording, I assumed she was a demon. Nothing else could destroy with such abandon.

From what she told me...it was to protect the Nalawi. It doesn't excuse the act, and from the way she expressed it, she was aware of that. She said in her anger, she couldn't be reasoned with, and imagined the same to be true of Pomarr now.

[That was the impression he got from their conversation. He doesn't know how a god sees the life of mortals, but there was a sorrow and resign to her that he couldn't accurately convey to others]

That so much death has happened...and still more lies ahead...

[It feels wrong]

[ He doesn't like to hear any of this. He'd decided he knew exactly what and who Nalanni was, but to hear all this makes her too... human. He looks distinctly unhappy. ]

Necessary death. If we're to believe ALASTAIR's... program [ he says it like it's a new word to him ] then she can't be left on this world. And who is to say she wouldn't drain the energy from another one, if she were moved?

Do we know why that is? It's hard to imagine there's nothing that could be done about it, despite ALASTAIR having enough power and influence to bring us all here.

[It's something he thought beyond imagining, and yet, here they are.

He puffs out a quiet sigh]

It's all the stuff of storybooks, for someone like me. But I don't want to believe killing is the only true solution - that that's what we're here for.

Vaguely. [ He nods, but doesn't look quite certain of it. He's pretty new here, too. ] A recruit named Dagny mentioned something about a Cataclysm. It seems all the worlds are running low on energy now.

I want to believe an organization like this wouldn't advocate for destruction if it weren't the lesser evil.

[ Wants to believe. He doesn't have enough experience to be sold on that yet. ]

[He has to wonder, coming from a world of black and grey morality. There were people suffering on both sides, and there were monsters on both sides...so he's beginning to think]

It makes me wonder how they make those determinations...but I lack the perspective of those who have been here longer.

[And, assuredly, seen more]

Do you think it will always come down to lesser evils?

It's hard to say. Honestly, this is my first mission, and I'm about as in the dark as you.

Dagny might be able to shed a little light for us, if we can reach her for it.

At least I'm not alone in that...though I'm not sure it's something I should be glad for.

[If only because of how troubling it has to be for other new recruits. He doesn't hold any illusions that he's the only one with a great deal to adapt to]

Is she difficult to get in touch with?

I haven't tried. [ He rubs his chin, thoughtful. ] There's a directory somewhere around here, and I think her username is just 'Dagny'...

[ But is this a question too petty to bother a senior recruit with?? He's not sure. It does feel pretty selfish. He trails the thought off, undecided. ]

I guess there's no harm in seeing if she has a moment for a question.

Is there any way to know whether she's busy? I wouldn't want to trouble her, but someone with more experience would surely have a better idea of whether these circumstances are unique or common.

[He's actually wondered more than a few times whether it would be troubling to contact others when he's referred to them, without having even been introduced first.

Ask, and apologize if she's in the middle of something. [ He shrugs with a rueful smile. ] Can I meet you somewhere for this?

Of course. [Considering he's having discussions with people, he's consider himself as having a little downtime here] Where should we meet up then?
