Looks like ALASTAIR's assembled a whole collection of characters from across the universes, huh? Pardon my asking, but what're your homelands like? Figure if I'm not gonna go elsewhere anytime soon, it'd be interesting to hear about yours. Since, you know - we've got a bit of downtime.

Figures. Sounds like a party.

As for my world, there's ah - ( he considers this in a split second; he's only attempted to activate his abilities once since returning, and like that time, the fire once again comes when it is called. who knows if it'd go on the fritz once more, really, but it works now and that's just fine.

the hand he moves into view of the feed is ablaze, but it doesn't seem to be a proper sort of shape beneath the flames - his arm ends at the wrist, and from then on, it's just roaring fire, as if his hand has been replaced by a torch. ) - somethin' like this. There's a lot more types, really, but this is mine.

[Even when he starts to explain, Emma isn't expecting a full demonstration. Her eyes widen to the hand-turned-torch, but it's fascination, not fear. It doesn't work that way where she's from, and she hasn't exactly been working on firepower, either.] That's pretty cool.

Ha! No rush - y'can show me next time, if you get the chance. ( instead of dying out, the flames twist and furl, taking the shape of the missing hand before seeming to melt into skin, and the pirate echoes her grin with one of his own before tipping his hat just a little. ) Just thought it'd be easier to demonstrate - to be honest, I wasn't entirely sure it was gonna work. Barely came to a couple of sparks back on Nalawi.

Seems like it's working fine now, must have been related to the magic-issue in Nalawi.

[The one where her friend had spend days feeling like death. She's a little concerned what they're going to have in store for them on the next mission.]

I'm hoping our next mission is a little less intense.

So that's what it was, huh. ( he wouldn't really call fruit abilities magic, but if that's what the strange alien place decided it was, then there isn't much he can do about it, after all. ) Heard there isn't much downtime in between 'em. Have you been on any others, besides the last one?

Seems like it, we had some pretty serious issues with the lack of magic.

Same here. Didn't spend a lot of time on Nalawi, though - either the mission was really short or I got punted into the tail end of it.

Was the lack of magic that much of a bother? ( his ability's become second nature, yes, but ace wouldn't really call it as much of an inconvenience that his conversation partner makes it sound like. )

It was, in certain cases. [Like her friend's life continuing because of magic, and the struggle it created for him to have to go without it.]

When magic is a part of you, not having it weakens a person.
