[In between the end of the... timeline shenanigans (which, thankfully for everyone, she does not remember) and their departure for the next mission, Sieglinde can be found up to her eyeballs in texts and tomes, mostly unfed, unrested, and occasionally unwashed... But never mind that.]

Audentes recruits. It is I, Sieglinde Sullivan. The Green Witch. Most of you know me, but there are newcomers among us, and so I must extend introductions to you all, unfit as this format may be for the beginning of such a bond as we are forced to share.

I come before you today with a request. I know there are those besides myself skilled in the art of healing, magic, and science. I speak not of the manner of talents ALASTAIR itself bestows to ease our missions, but of knowledge brought from outside of this place. There are two projects I have undertaken which could potentially benefit from the input of others, and so I seek volunteers who would be willing to lend their aid to the cause.

The cases are as follows.

One involves a person whose heart was physically removed from their body via magic, and said organ was used then in order to control them. I wish to see a heart and all capabilities therein returned to them, but as you can imagine, the process carries a great risk, seeing as the magic that removed the heart initially serves also to keep their body living artificially without such a vital element.

The other involves a more scientific matter, as it is in regards to someone whose diet is severely restricted due to some biological difference of the body, particularly the digestive system. Foods they are able to tolerate have been identified, so the next step is to discover what it is about those foods that allow them to pass through the body without causing illness, and to then implement such discoveries into a pill or procedure which could render other foods edible.

For reasons I am sure you understand, I will not give the names nor any hints towards the identities of these patients, as such information is strictly need-to-know... and only those whom I judge capable to work on these projects will be considered so.

[deep breath]

But, if you believe your training or talents may be of some use in any of those situations... your cooperation would be most appreciated. I will field questions here, should you have them.

Thanks for the thought. How long has it been now, a couple of months? Since we last met. [Then there's a pause.]

Are you doing well? [PLEASE SAY YOU'RE OKAY SIEGLINDE!]

And two missions.

[Nalawi, Oska, Zeta-12... It's been a long time since they met in Chantes.]

Much has changed, but I am hale in body.

So, two missions have passed by since then. [WHAT???? This is both surprising and unsurprising. ]

I had no idea. Tell me more if you can. We can always talk in person.

I much prefer that in most any situation- You may find my lab in the north tower.

I'll make my way over there now. See you soon. [Heyy, Julius walking over to Sieglinde's lab just like he promised he would. He knocks on the door a few times. ]

Is this the right place? [It better be...!]

[It is most definitely the right place. Mainly because those sorts of fun chemical spells could only mean one thing- Sieglinde's numerous experiments.

Lab, living quarters... they were basically the same thing, and at the moment she can't seem to bring herself to leave her desk.]

Pardon the intrusion. [Julius bows politely before walking in. He just wants to show some manners as a guest!]

This scenery is familiar to me. Are you still continuing your research, Sieglinde?

[It really is him. In person it seems much more real, and Sieglinde takes a moment to just look at him a moment, wondering, before she tries to smile a bit, gesturing for him to take a seat.]

Of course- did you think I would do anything else?

[It was good to see him again.]

Welcome back, Julius.

[Better to say it in person, too.]

Not at all. I am pleased to see that you're well in spite of everything.

[Julius takes a seat and then smiles after hearing that. He folds his arms together then stares at all of Sieglinde's research. ]

You've come a long way to get here. It wasn't easy, was it?

[... Not easy, no.]

Chantes, Nalawi, Zeta-12...

[Three missions. Months. A birthday.]

It has been difficult for everyone.

You're right. All we can do is hold our heads high and keep walking forward.

There's no other way. [If they give up now then it would all be for nothing.]

That alone is true.

[And it was depressing, that all they could do was submit to ALASTAIR's missions and go about their business best they could, so she tries to shake it off, instead gesturing to him.]

But what of yourself- where have you been?

For five months they sent me out on a different mission. I was needed elsewhere apparently. [He pauses briefly.]

In all honesty, I'd rather be here with our companions. We have many good people in our ranks.

[grunehexe]

You were alone? That must have been even more difficult...

[For all that they had their share of disagreements, (she still hadn't repaired relationships sundered by Nalawin disagreements over goddess murder), at least there were allies present. People who could watch your back...]

No, I wasn't alone. I always kept our comrades in my thoughts. [He shakes his head twice. ]

That helped me get through it. Even if we weren't necessarily working together in the same mission I believed that we're still a team. It doesn't matter how far apart we are.

[So Shonen, Julius... !]

You have a greater fortitude than most, Julius- it is admirable.

[She doesn't know what would happen to her if she was transferred, away from her disciples, from Masamune...]

I haven't always been this way, Sieglinde.

It's thanks to everyone here and my friends back home that I've become who I am today. Don't you feel that you've changed because of your friends too?

[Because of her friends. "Friends" was a loaded word, one she didn't use lightly or often. Had she changed since she had come to ALASTAIR? Of course. But how...]

[She's just not sure how. Or even sure she should be trying to identify how, either.]

Sometimes you change without thinking. It's good to reflect and think back on how you were before.

Although, I'm glad to hear that you've noticed changed too.
