The gift, meant to help him, its crystal now nearly black. And the last one, meant to show home--showing, instead, nothing at all. ]

[ He groans, his smoothly lilting voice now breathless, now rough with pain. There's the sound of squelching, of cracking bone. Something to help his lucidity. Somebody, really. An agonized shriek follows--not his own. ]

[ No. Not right. Not good enough. Another twist of the runeblade, another wet, shattering sound.

He half-growls, half-whimpers. Not much time, now. ]
